To set one up, open Pre-recorded livestream → Playlist, add and order your videos, preview or schedule the playlist, then select your connected YouTube channel when creating the event.
Before you build the playlist
Check YouTube access first
Restream says YouTube live streaming must be enabled, and the connected Restream user must own the channel rather than only manage or edit it. A new YouTube channel must verify a phone number and wait 24 hours before its first livestream, according to Restream’s activation instructions. Confirm playlist access and capacity
Restream’s playlist guide says the feature requires a purchased Upload & Stream add-on tier. The guide, published July 25, 2026, lists Marathon at $79/month with a four-hour video library and a 1080p maximum, and Media at $239/month with a 12-hour library and a 4K maximum. These are figures listed in Restream’s documentation, not independently verified checkout prices; confirm current availability, pricing and limits before purchasing. Choose capacity based on the total duration of the source videos you intend to add, and resolution based on the quality you need to deliver.

Create and schedule a YouTube playlist
- Open the playlist builder. From Restream’s home screen, choose Pre-recorded livestream, then Playlist. You can reopen an earlier playlist for reuse.
- Add your videos. Select existing videos or upload files, then choose Next.
- Set the order. Drag clips into the sequence you want. Use Add Video to add more files or a countdown.
- Customize the presentation. Add any available designs, captions or QR codes that suit the broadcast.
- Preview or schedule. Preview the result, or choose Schedule and set when the playlist should go live.
- Create the YouTube event. When setting up the event, choose Playlist as the format, enter event details, enable the YouTube destination and create the event. Restream says a scheduled playlist starts automatically at the scheduled time.

What “always-on” means with Restream playlists
A playlist is scheduled prerecorded programming, not a permanent stream. Restream documents a maximum playlist duration of 24 hours and a maximum of 40 video entries. Repeated copies of a clip count as separate entries. You can arrange, add or remove videos before the playlist begins; once it is live, Restream says only graphics and chat can be edited.

Repeat clips within one playlist
Restream says playlists do not currently support looping. Its documented workaround is to add duplicate entries in sequence—for example, A, B, C, A, B, C—while staying within the 40-entry limit and the 24-hour playlist limit. This repeats only as far as the duplicated entries extend; it does not turn the playlist into an endless broadcast.
Schedule playlists back to back
Restream says consecutive playlists remain separate streams with a two-minute buffer between them. That can create a planned sequence of broadcasts, but not one seamless, continuous stream. Check the gap against your programming needs before relying on consecutive events.

Do not confuse playlist limits with video-event looping
Restream separately documents looping a single prerecorded video up to 10 times, for a maximum 40-hour stream. That behavior applies to a video event, not a playlist, so it does not remove the playlist’s duration, entry or looping limits. See Restream’s guide to looping a prerecorded video.
Prepare video and audio settings
Restream’s YouTube streaming guide reproduces these recommended encoder settings. They are recommendations reported by Restream, not a substitute for checking YouTube’s current requirements for your channel and stream setup:

- Video codec: H.264.
- Resolution: 240p–2160p.
- Bitrate: 3,000–40,000 Kbps, depending on resolution and frame rate.
- Frame rate: up to 60 fps.
- Rate control: CBR.
- Keyframes: two-second recommended interval, with four seconds as the stated maximum.
- Audio codec: AAC or MP3.
- Audio bitrate: 128 Kbps for stereo or 384 Kbps for 5.1 audio.
- Audio sample rate: 44.1 kHz for stereo or 48 kHz for 5.1 audio.

Restream’s YouTube guide says YouTube has no stream-duration limit but archives only streams under 12 hours. The guide is Restream’s account rather than direct YouTube documentation, so do not assume a broadcast longer than 12 hours will be archived in full. Archive availability is a separate concern from whether a playlist can air.

Before scheduling, also confirm that you have the rights to every video and audio track you plan to broadcast and that the content complies with YouTube’s current rules. Restream’s playlist workflow does not grant rights to third-party material or guarantee that YouTube will allow or monetize a particular broadcast.
Troubleshoot common planning problems
- You cannot select or create a playlist: check whether your account has the required Upload & Stream add-on access and confirm the plan’s current limits with Restream.
- YouTube is missing or the event cannot be created: verify that live streaming is enabled, that the connected user owns the channel, and that a newly activated channel has completed the phone verification and 24-hour wait described by Restream.
- The playlist will not cover the full intended schedule: add up the video durations and check both the 24-hour total and the 40-entry cap. Duplicated clips count toward the entry limit.
- The playlist stops instead of repeating: playlists do not loop. Duplicate entries before going live if repetition within the limits is acceptable, or use a different approach for continuous playback.
- There is a gap between scheduled playlists: Restream documents a two-minute buffer and separate streams, so consecutive playlists are not an uninterrupted broadcast.
- You need to change the video order after the broadcast starts: Restream says videos can be arranged, added or removed before the start; during the broadcast, only graphics and chat can be edited.
- You need a complete archive of a long event: Restream’s guide says streams under 12 hours are archived. Avoid relying on a full archive for a longer broadcast without confirming the current behavior with YouTube.
