Draft the Pool first to add the Pump Room to your possible rooms. Once the Pump Room appears, select Pool on its wall panel, trace connection 6 on the schematic, and raise the lever on pump 4 behind the tanks. Move the water to another room whenever the receiving tank fills, then repeat until the Pool reaches level 0. A completely drained Pool reveals 14 gold coins.
How to unlock and find the Pump Room
The prerequisite is drafting the Pool. Doing so makes the Pump Room available in the drafting pool, although it may still take several in-game days before the room is offered. The Pump Room regulates water in the Fountain, Reservoir, Aquarium, Kitchen, Greenhouse and Pool.

When the room appears, inspect the wall control panel and the schematic before operating any pump. Each numbered pipe on the schematic corresponds to a numbered room button and identifies the physical pump connected to that room.
How the controls work
Choose a room on the wall panel
Select the room whose water level you want to change. The schematic then gives you the numbered connection to follow through the room.

Use the connected red lever
Raise the connected pump’s red lever to drain the selected room. Lower the lever to fill that room. The direction matters: an upward lever drains, while a downward lever fills.
Account for tank capacity
Drained water is stored in a tank. If that tank reaches capacity before the selected room is empty, route the stored water into another room and then resume draining.

Exact steps to drain the Pool
- Select Pool on the Pump Room’s wall control panel.
- On the schematic, follow connection 6. This is the Pool connection.
- Go to pump 4, which is positioned behind the tanks.
- Raise pump 4’s lever. This transfers water out of the Pool and into the connected tank.
- Watch the tank. If it fills while the Pool still contains water, select a room that can receive water and operate that room’s pump in the fill direction.
- For the commonly used overflow route, select Greenhouse and lower pump 1 to move water from tank 1 into the Greenhouse.
- Return to Pool, raise pump 4 again, and repeat the transfer-and-empty cycle until the Pool’s level reads 0.
When the Pool reaches zero, the basin is fully drained and several gold coins appear. Their total value is 14 gold coins.
Tank routing and pump connections
The two normal tanks do not serve every room interchangeably. Aquarium and Greenhouse feed into tank 1, while Kitchen feeds into tank 2. The central pump handles Fountain and Reservoir; those are the two connections that can be switched between the normal tanks.

| Room or function | Connection or pump | Tank routing | Lever direction for the stated action | Boiler Room power needed? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pool | Connection 6; pump 4 behind the tanks | Connected tank; relocate water when full | Raise to drain the Pool | No for normal Pool draining |
| Greenhouse | Pump number not stated in the available references; the overflow example uses pump 1 | Tank 1 | Lower to fill from tank 1 | No |
| Aquarium | Pump number not stated | Tank 1 | Direction depends on whether you are draining or filling | No |
| Kitchen | Pump number not stated | Tank 2 | Direction depends on whether you are draining or filling | No |
| Fountain and Reservoir | Central pump | Choose tank 1 or tank 2 with the handle behind the tanks before operating the pump | Raise to drain; lower to fill | Reserve capacity may require Boiler Room power |
To change which normal tank receives Fountain or Reservoir water, use the handle behind the tanks first, then operate the central pump. Do not assume that switching the handle changes the Pool connection; the Pool remains tied to pump 4 behind the tanks.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Using the reserve tank
The Reservoir’s final unit of water requires the reserve tank. Power the Pump Room through the Boiler Room to make that extra capacity available. This is a separate capacity issue from the ordinary Pool-draining cycle: you can drain the Pool normally without Boiler Room power, but the Reservoir’s last unit cannot be handled without the reserve tank.

Other reasons to adjust water levels
Fountain
Draining the Fountain can expose a route to a basement area. If that is the objective, use the Fountain selection and its connected pump rather than the Pool procedure.
Reservoir
Reservoir levels can affect access to secrets and boat-related progression. The correct target level depends on the specific puzzle or clue, so check that clue before changing the Reservoir instead of automatically emptying it.
