StreamShark announced an OBS dock for managing live events, but the official announcement found here does not provide a download or installation guide. It says the plugin was “coming soon” for macOS and Windows in an announcement dated April 16, 2026; that announcement-time wording does not establish whether it has since been released. Check StreamShark’s current release and support channels before attempting to install it. Meanwhile, you can configure OBS manually using StreamShark’s documented RTMP or SRT workflow.
What the StreamShark OBS plugin is meant to do
StreamShark describes the plugin as a native dock inside OBS Studio for controlling a StreamShark live event. The announcement says it is intended to let an operator switch accounts, select an event, and have the plugin choose RTMP or SRT based on the event type, avoiding manual copying of stream keys and changes to OBS output settings. These are announced capabilities, not independently verified behavior.
The planned dock is also described as providing separate start and stop controls for primary and backup streams, real-time bitrate monitoring, a Pre/Main/Post event phase switcher, and controls for configured live calls-to-action and polls. StreamShark says the plugin would handle redundant streams in one OBS instance, rather than requiring two. The announcement does not state which plan is required for each control.
Check release availability before looking for installation steps
The announcement’s exact status line was: “The StreamShark OBS Plugin is coming soon for both macOS and Windows.” Because the announcement is dated April 16, 2026, this records what StreamShark said then; it does not confirm availability now. The announcement does not provide a download page, install procedure, authentication steps, supported OBS versions, or plugin troubleshooting guidance. Use StreamShark’s current official release and support channels to verify those details before installing. Do not treat the manual OBS instructions below as plugin installation instructions.

Before configuring OBS manually
- Create the live stream event in the StreamShark portal first; the standard setup guide requires an existing event.
- Identify whether the event uses the standard RTMP workflow or SRT ingest. The settings differ: RTMP uses a Server URL and Stream Name, while the documented SRT workflow uses a publishing URL and leaves Stream Key blank.
- For RTMP, find the event’s selected transcode resolution so the OBS canvas, output resolution, and encoding bitrates can be matched to it.
- For SRT, wait for provisioning to finish and confirm the event shows Ready before using its publishing URL.
Set up a standard RTMP event in OBS
- Create the event and retrieve its details. In StreamShark, create the live stream event and locate its Server URL and Stream Name.
- Enter the RTMP destination. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, choose Custom Streaming Server, enter the Server URL in the URL field, and enter the Stream Name as the stream key.
- Match the encoder to the event’s transcode resolution. In Settings → Output, set video and audio bitrates to the values for the selected resolution in the table below. These are values in StreamShark’s guide, not universal recommendations for every streaming service, network, or encoder.
- Set the video resolutions. In Settings → Video, set Base (Canvas) Resolution to the StreamShark transcode resolution and set Output (Scaled) Resolution to the same value.
- Start the broadcast and verify it. Start streaming in OBS, then check the event workflow in StreamShark.

Set up an SRT ingest event in OBS
- Create an SRT event. In StreamShark, create an SRT Ingest event and configure its locations and other event settings.
- Wait for provisioning. Continue only after provisioning finishes and the event status is Ready.
- Copy a publishing URL. Open Event Details and copy the publishing URL for the primary or backup destination you intend to use.
- Configure OBS. Open Settings → Stream, choose Custom for Service, paste the publishing URL into Server, and leave Stream Key empty.
- Start and verify the stream. Select Start Streaming in OBS, then inspect the event’s Workflow tab to confirm the stream is pushing.
This is the documented manual SRT workflow. The announced plugin’s intended automatic protocol selection is a separate, not-yet-documented plugin behavior.
Check plan eligibility for event features
StreamShark’s pricing page lists backup stream ingest on Team and above, and Live CTA and Live Polling on Business and Enterprise. Those plan listings describe the underlying service features; the plugin announcement does not specify a separate plan rule for its controls. Confirm current plan terms with StreamShark before relying on a feature for an event.

Troubleshooting the documented manual workflows
- OBS cannot connect to the event: For RTMP, check that the URL field contains the event’s Server URL and the stream key contains its Stream Name. For SRT, confirm you copied the publishing URL from Event Details, pasted it into Server, and left Stream Key empty.
- The SRT event is not ready: Do not begin the OBS push until provisioning has finished and the event displays Ready.
- The output does not match the selected transcode: Check that OBS Base (Canvas) Resolution and Output (Scaled) Resolution both match the event’s transcode resolution, and that Output bitrates match StreamShark’s listed pair for that resolution.
- The stream appears to start but is not confirmed in StreamShark: Check the event workflow for the standard setup, or the Workflow tab for SRT, to verify that the stream is being received.
- You cannot find the plugin download or its controls: The April 16, 2026 announcement does not include download, installation, authentication, version-compatibility, or troubleshooting instructions. Verify current release information with StreamShark rather than assuming the plugin is available or following the manual setup as if it were a plugin guide.
