YouTube Community posts can help you stay in conversation between video uploads, learn what your audience wants, and give viewers another way to respond. They are an opportunity to support channel growth—not a guaranteed way to increase views or subscribers. Use posts with a clear purpose, reply to people who participate, and treat YouTube Studio Analytics as feedback rather than proof that a post caused channel growth.
What the Community tab can do for your channel
YouTube posts support text, polls, quizzes, GIFs, images, and video. Depending on the post and the viewer, content may appear on your channel’s Posts tab or Home shelf, in Home or Subscriptions feeds, and— for image posts—in the Shorts feed. YouTube may notify subscribers, but notification delivery is not guaranteed. See YouTube’s explanation of posts and where they appear.
That gives you a way to invite interaction when you do not have a new video to publish, and to connect a video topic with a question, preview, or follow-up. YouTube describes posts as a way to reach and engage viewers, but its guidance does not quantify a causal increase in views or subscribers from posting. YouTube also says returning casual and regular viewers are more likely to be recommended more videos from a channel; that is not evidence that posts themselves trigger recommendations. Treat channel growth as a wider outcome to track, not a result to promise from any one post. See YouTube’s guidance about new, casual, and regular viewers.
Choose a post with a clear audience purpose
Before choosing a format, decide what you want the audience to do or learn. A post should complement your video plan rather than serve as an unrelated request for engagement.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Learn preferences: Ask which game, feature, guide, or topic viewers want next. Use a poll for a few simple choices; use an open question when you want explanations.
- Support an upcoming upload: Share a relevant teaser or ask a focused question before publishing a video. Make clear what the question has to do with the subject.
- Show useful context: Share a behind-the-scenes image or short video when the visual adds something viewers cannot get from a poll.
- Continue a conversation: Ask a follow-up after an upload or invite viewers to discuss a specific point. Reply to comments so participation becomes a conversation rather than a one-way announcement.
- Share an update: Use a text or image post for a timely channel or collaboration update. Member-only posts are also an option for channels with memberships, as described in YouTube’s post formats guidance.
Pick the format that makes responding easy
Polls and quizzes
Use a poll when viewers can choose among clear, short alternatives—for example, which game guide they would find most useful next. A quiz makes sense when testing or sharing knowledge is itself part of the conversation. YouTube’s current help page describes text and image polls and quizzes with up to four options. Do not use a poll for a question that needs a detailed explanation; invite comments instead. Check YouTube’s instructions for creating a post for the available post controls.
Text questions
A focused question can surface reasons behind audience preferences. Ask one thing at a time and make it easy to understand what kind of answer would help. If viewers respond, acknowledge useful replies and use them to shape a follow-up or future content decision.

Images, GIFs, and video
Choose a visual post when the image, GIF, or video carries information or makes the prompt more engaging. YouTube documents up to 10 images in one post. Use only material you have the right to share, and keep the visual connected to the channel’s subject. The available surfaces vary by post type, so an image post’s distribution should not be assumed to match a text post’s.
Publish on a sustainable rhythm
YouTube recommends a regular schedule that complements video uploads. Its tips suggest weekly conversation starters, polls, or follow-up questions, and a welcome post when opening a dedicated Community. Weekly is platform guidance, not a universal optimum: choose a pace you can sustain and adjust it to your audience’s response and your ability to participate. More posts are not useful if you cannot keep up with the conversation. See YouTube’s posts tips and tips to connect with your community.

A practical cycle is to ask for input before a relevant upload, publish the video, then use a follow-up post to invite reactions or clarify what viewers want next. This keeps posts tied to the channel’s content plan without implying that every post will increase reach.
Create and schedule a post in YouTube
- Open YouTube’s post composer. Use the native YouTube interface and choose the post type—text, video, poll, quiz, or image—available to your channel. YouTube documents creating and scheduling posts; the exact controls can vary with access and interface updates. Follow the current steps in Create a post.
- Write one clear prompt or message. State the question or update directly. For polls and quizzes, keep choices easy to distinguish and within the available option limit.
- Add media only when it serves the post. Select an image, GIF, or video that is relevant and that you are permitted to use. For image posts, YouTube documents a maximum of 10 images.
- Check audience and visibility settings. Confirm any audience or access options shown in the composer, especially for member-only content, then review the post before publishing.
- Publish or schedule it. If scheduling is available for your post, choose a time that fits the surrounding upload plan. After publication, return to read and respond to replies.
Review post performance without overreading it
In YouTube Studio Analytics, use the Content tab’s Posts view to review post impressions and top posts by likes or votes. Compare topics and formats across similar time windows. YouTube notes that post type can affect impressions, so a poll and an image post are not automatically comparable. The analytics can help you see which posts drew attention or interaction; likes and impressions alone do not establish that the post produced subscriber growth or additional video views. See YouTube’s Posts and channel performance tips.

Check access, audience, and Community rules
Posts are unavailable for supervised accounts and channels set as made for kids. YouTube says posts are not currently available in Germany. Access can also vary by channel role. If a post type or control is missing, check current YouTube Help on posts and the creation instructions rather than assuming the feature is available to every channel.
A dedicated Community space is different from the Posts feature. YouTube describes it as a place where subscribers can start discussions and share material; its Community-only posts have different visibility from Posts-tab posts. The dedicated space has additional eligibility requirements, including existing posts access, being over 16, and meeting channel restrictions. If you enable one, set expectations, use moderation settings, and consider assigning trusted moderators. All Community content must follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines. Details are in Learn about posts and Tips to connect with your community.
