In Civilization VII, Treasure Fleets are now called Treasure Convoys. Improve a Treasure Resource in a Distant Lands settlement to generate one, then bring it to a Homeland settlement and unload it. Since the June 23, 2025 update, convoys can travel over land or sea; coastal access, a Fishing Quay, and Shipbuilding are no longer required.
How to get and use a Treasure Convoy
- Find a Treasure Resource in Distant Lands. The April 2025 resource update identifies Gold, Silver, Cocoa, Spices, Sugar, Tea, Horses, Furs, and Rubies as Treasure Resources. Cocoa, Spices, Sugar, and Tea are distributed among major landmasses and islands. Homeland and Distant Lands are relative to each civilization, so check the resource icon and its tooltip on the map. - Improve the resource. Improving a Treasure Resource in a Distant Lands settlement generates a Treasure Convoy under the June 23, 2025 rules. It does not need to be a coastal settlement, and you do not need a Fishing Quay or Shipbuilding Tech. Official June 23, 2025 update.
- Move the convoy to a Homeland settlement. Choose a route over land or sea, based on distance, land connectivity, and ocean exposure. Sea travel remains vulnerable to storm damage. - Unload it in the Homeland. Once the convoy reaches a Homeland settlement, use its unload action. The exact UI label may differ from instructions in older guides, so follow the current game interface.
How to choose a route
Because convoys can now travel over land, a sea crossing is not automatically necessary. Compare the land route’s connectivity and distance with the sea route’s exposure to stormy waters. If the ocean route is shorter, account for the possibility of storm damage while moving the unit.
What older Treasure Fleet guides get wrong
Guides written before the June 23, 2025 update may call the unit a Treasure Fleet and say it requires coastal access, a Fishing Quay, or Shipbuilding Tech. Those requirements are outdated: the current rules allow a Treasure Convoy to be generated from an improved Treasure Resource in any Distant Lands settlement and to travel by land or sea.
Some older instructions also state that unloading gives one point and 150 Gold. GameSpot’s January 29, 2025 guide reports that reward, but the official update materials do not confirm it as the current amount. If a convoy’s origin information disappears
A December 9, 2025 patch fixed a bug that could make a convoy’s origin and point information disappear if the settlement that generated it was captured. If you encounter missing information, update the game and check whether the settlement has changed hands.
