You can use vMix to assemble a Hindi news program, play prepared segments in sequence, and send the output to YouTube Live. The practical setup is a tested vMix preset, a carefully built playlist, a configured YouTube stream, local recording, and an operator who can review and intervene. vMix playlist automation does not establish unattended 24/7 reliability, automatic failover, or a seamless YouTube handoff.
What you need before going live
Plan the production chain before configuring the stream: newsroom sources go into vMix, vMix switches or plays them into one program output, and that output is sent to YouTube Live. You will need a production computer running vMix, the video and audio sources you intend to use, a sustained internet connection suitable for your chosen settings, and access to YouTube Studio for the channel.
- Gather the sources for the show: an anchor camera if used, microphones or a mixer, prepared video clips, titles and graphics, and any remote contribution.
- Decide which parts of the schedule can run as a prepared sequence and which require an editor to choose what airs next.
- Choose the output resolution and frame rate based on the program and what the production computer and connection can sustain.
- Keep a local recording plan and an operator plan for stream interruption or editorial changes.
YouTube lists microphones among typical professional livestream equipment, but no particular microphone model or connection type is required by the workflow described here. Choose equipment that matches the actual camera/audio interface and studio conditions.
Build and verify a vMix production preset
A vMix preset saves inputs and their settings, along with recording and streaming settings, so the production setup can be recalled. Treat the preset as the starting point for a repeatable show, not as proof that every source or setting will work unattended.

- Load the inputs. Add the cameras, audio inputs, clips, graphics, titles and remote sources the newsroom expects to use. Confirm that each input appears and that audio is reaching the intended program mix.
- Set up the program output. Arrange the usual opening, anchor shot, graphics and clip transitions. Check that titles remain legible over the underlying video and that the audio levels are suitable for the program.
- Configure recording and streaming. Set the intended output and recording options in the preset. Use a local test recording to confirm picture, audio, titles and transitions before relying on the preset for a live show.
- Save and reopen the preset on the broadcast computer. Verify that the inputs, devices and settings are present on the machine that will actually run the channel. A preset should be tested in its intended environment.
The vMix User Guide, Help 29 edition, describes presets and playlist functions. It does not establish that a preset can recover from every device, computer, network or platform failure.
Create a Hindi news playlist that an editor can supervise
vMix PlayList can play multiple videos sequentially or automate switching tasks. For playlist items, the operator can set a starting position, duration, transition and transition time. A playlist can loop or run in manual mode, where an operator clicks Next. Playlists are linked to the active vMix preset in which they were created.
- Open the intended preset, then prepare PlayList. Create or edit the playlist while the preset for this channel is active; do not assume a playlist created in another preset is available in the same way.
- Add items in broadcast order. Arrange prepared reports, explainers, headlines, bumpers and other authorized material in the order it should air. Use clear item names so an operator can identify the next segment quickly.
- Set each item’s start, duration and transition. Check whether the item should play from the beginning or a selected position, how long it should remain active, and how it should transition to the next item. Preview these choices in a test run rather than assuming the timings match the finished edit.
- Choose loop or manual progression deliberately. Looping or automatic sequencing suits material whose order and timing are already approved. Manual mode gives an operator the choice of when to advance, which is more appropriate when current headlines or editorial judgment should determine what airs next.
- Test the entire sequence. Watch at least one complete pass of the planned block. Check clip starts and endings, audio continuity, graphics, transitions and the behavior at the end of the list before using it on air.
A loop can repeat prepared programming, but it cannot verify that headlines remain current, that a clip is still appropriate, or that the stream is reaching viewers. Keep a newsroom operator or editor responsible for reviewing sources and rights, managing live transitions, and responding to output problems. Playlist automation is not a failover system.

Connect vMix to YouTube Live
YouTube’s encoder workflow uses a live server URL and stream key in the encoder. The exact controls can vary with the current YouTube Live Control Room and installed vMix version, so confirm the visible labels and prompts in those products before a scheduled broadcast.

Set up the event in the channel’s Live Control Room and review its visibility and event details before sending the encoder feed.
- Copy the stream server URL and stream key from YouTube. Treat the key as a credential: enter it only into the intended encoder configuration and do not expose it in a public graphic or recording.
- Configure the destination in vMix. Enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key in the streaming setup, or use a YouTube-specific destination if it is available in the installed vMix version. vMix documentation also describes selecting an existing scheduled event or creating a stream through an integrated destination; the related knowledge-base article was last updated March 16, 2021, so verify that workflow against the current version.
- Start a private or otherwise controlled test where practical. Inspect the YouTube preview and vMix stream status before the public show. Confirm that the intended picture and sound arrive before announcing the channel as live.
- Follow the current Live Control Room prompts. YouTube’s encoder help describes starting the encoder after creating the stream. A scheduled stream may also require clicking Go live after the preview appears. Check the current interface rather than assuming the encoder start alone publishes the event.
Do not share the stream key with people who do not need encoder access. If the key is exposed, use YouTube Studio’s available controls to replace or reset it, then update vMix and verify the new connection before the next broadcast.
Choose encoder settings the computer and connection can sustain
vMix provides streaming profiles and a bundled FFMPEG option. vMix Help 28 describes FFMPEG as recommended and supporting H.264, AV1 or HEVC video with AAC audio. YouTube’s live encoder guidance recommends H.264, constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval, not above four seconds. Use the YouTube table as a target, not a guarantee that a particular computer or internet connection can sustain the stream.

For resolutions or frame rates other than 1080p30, use YouTube’s current encoder settings table for the corresponding target rather than scaling the 5 Mbps figure by guesswork. Before the show, check both encoder load and sustained upload capacity, then watch the YouTube preview and vMix’s stream status. If either shows instability, reduce the output demand or resolve the local constraint before going live.
Validate Hindi graphics, captions and the full output locally
The official vMix and YouTube materials described here cover general playlists, titles or overlays and streaming. They do not establish that Devanagari fonts, Hindi captions or line breaks render correctly on every vMix installation. Validate the actual production files on the broadcast computer.

- Inspect Devanagari text in lower thirds, headlines, names and graphics for missing glyphs, awkward line breaks and clipping.
- Review captions in the YouTube preview if captions are part of the show; do not assume a general vMix setup guarantees language-specific caption behavior.
- Make and review a local recording so you can check the output independently of the live preview.
- Test the complete path from source input through vMix to YouTube, including audio, transitions and the end of a playlist block.
Plan archives and any 24-hour schedule around YouTube’s limit
YouTube Help’s archive guidance, accessed in 2026, says: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” YouTube recommends a local recording as a backup. If complete YouTube archives matter, plan live sessions under 12 hours and retain local recordings.

Shorter sessions mean stopping and starting streams; the cited guidance does not promise that this creates a seamless viewer handoff. Test the transition with the channel’s actual setup and make an operator plan for ending one session and starting the next. Do not treat a single stream running beyond 12 hours as a dependable archive strategy.

Keep the program editorially distinct
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to livestreams and say that channels built from highly repetitive or mass-produced material can be ineligible for monetization. Repeating a playlist does not itself establish YouTube Partner Program eligibility. Add original reporting, commentary and useful editorial value, and check YouTube’s current monetization policy before relying on revenue from the channel.
Clear rights and check local requirements
YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to hold the necessary rights to the live content and comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements in the stream territory. That includes material placed into a repeating playlist, not only live camera footage. The reviewed sources do not establish which India-specific registrations, licensing or other rules apply to this particular newsroom. Obtain jurisdiction-specific guidance before launch; this guide is not a legal determination.

Troubleshoot common vMix-to-YouTube problems
