Verify Baldur’s Gate 3 through the store client that installed it: on Steam, use Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files; in GOG Galaxy, use Manage installation > Verify / Repair. These built-in checks compare the installed game files and can help address missing or corrupted files.
Verify Baldur’s Gate 3 files on Steam
- Open Library and locate Baldur’s Gate 3.
- Right-click the game, or open its Library page and select the gear control, then choose Properties.
- Select Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files and let the check finish. Steam says verification can take several minutes. Steam Support documents this current menu path.
Some files may fail verification without indicating a broken repair. Steam says this can happen with local configuration files that should not be replaced during verification, and that the message can be safely ignored. Larian’s Baldur’s Gate 3 installation guidance describes the same general process using the older Steam labels Local Files and Verify Integrity of Game Files…. If those labels differ from your client, follow Steam’s current Installed Files path.
Verify Baldur’s Gate 3 files in GOG Galaxy
- Select Baldur’s Gate 3 in GOG Galaxy.
- Open the customization or settings control beside Play.
- Choose Manage installation > Verify / Repair and let the process complete. GOG Support gives these repair instructions.
The control may look slightly different depending on the Galaxy client version: Larian describes a settings icon at the top right beside Play, while GOG calls it the customization button to the right of Play. Use the client for the store where your copy is installed. These procedures are client-specific; for a game installed through another store, use that client’s repair feature.
