What YouTube fan funding includes
YouTube groups channel memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers and Super Thanks under its fan-funding features. These are YouTube-native options, not one general-purpose donation button. [YouTube Commerce Products monetization policies]

Think of the choices by timing: memberships are for ongoing community perks, Super Chat and Stickers are tied to live chat, and Super Thanks is attached to an eligible video or Short. This describes their formats, not which one will earn a creator more.
Who can use fan funding
Baseline requirements include participation in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), being at least 18, living in a location where the relevant feature is available, and accepting and following YouTube’s Commerce Product Module terms and applicable policies. Each feature also has its own requirements, and availability can vary by location and channel or content status. [YouTube Commerce Products monetization policies]

Expanded YPP access is not universal
In eligible locations, YouTube describes an earlier-access YPP tier with 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 365 days or 3 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days. YouTube lists memberships and Supers among features available at that tier. These thresholds are location- and rollout-dependent, so they should not be treated as universal or as a guarantee that every feature is available to a particular channel. Check your account’s Earn tab and YouTube’s current expanded YPP requirements.
Super Thanks content restrictions
Super Thanks is unavailable on age-restricted, unlisted, private, made-for-kids, copyright-claimed or comments-disabled videos and Shorts. It is also unavailable during a live stream or Premiere while that event is live. [Super Thanks eligibility and policy]

How to check and enable the features
- Confirm that your channel meets YPP and the relevant feature’s eligibility requirements, including the age and location rules.
- In YouTube Studio, open Earn and review the eligibility and feature options shown for your channel. YouTube’s monetization feature setup guide explains the setup flow.
- Accept the Commerce Product Module terms when prompted and make sure the channel follows the applicable monetization policies.
- Turn on each available feature individually in Studio. The options shown can differ by feature, location, channel status and the eligibility of the content where viewers would use it.
If a feature is missing, do not assume that the channel has a technical problem: check the Earn tab, location availability, account eligibility and the feature-specific restrictions first. For Super Thanks, also check the individual video or Short’s privacy, audience, copyright-claim and comments settings.
What creators receive—and what fan funding is not
For Super Thanks specifically, YouTube says creators receive 70% of revenue recognized by Google after local sales tax and applicable iOS App Store fees are deducted. YouTube says it currently covers transaction costs such as credit-card fees. That stated share applies to Super Thanks; it should not be assumed to describe memberships, Super Chat or Super Stickers. YouTube explicitly says Super Thanks is not a crowdfunding or donation tool. It is a platform purchase associated with interaction on a video or Short. YouTube Giving is a separate feature for nonprofit fundraising. [Super Thanks eligibility and policy]

How fan funding can fit a gaming channel
For a gaming creator, the right feature depends on the moment and the offer: memberships can support an ongoing community with creator-defined perks; Super Chat and Stickers can let viewers pay to highlight a contribution during a live chat; and Super Thanks can attach a one-time purchase and comment to an eligible upload or Short. Keep each benefit clear and deliver the perks you promise. Fan funding does not remove the need to follow YouTube’s monetization and content policies, and no one feature guarantees a particular income.
Keeping a YouTube stream live is a separate problem
Fan funding features do not themselves keep a stream running.
