So the creator’s share is not necessarily 70% of the amount a viewer sees at checkout, nor is it the creator’s after-tax income.
How the Super Chat split is calculated
YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers guidance says creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google. YouTube’s partner earnings overview describes the share as 70% of net revenues for creators who accept the Commerce Product Module.
The calculation matters: local sales tax and applicable iOS App Store fees are deducted before YouTube calculates the creator’s share. YouTube says it currently covers transaction costs, including credit card fees. Its documentation does not quantify the effect of those deductions for an individual purchase, so a displayed checkout amount alone is not enough to determine the creator’s credit.

When creators can receive Super Chat revenue
Super Chat is available on eligible live streams and Premieres when live chat is enabled. Creators must accept the applicable fan-funding terms and turn on the individual feature. Legacy creators who accepted the former Commerce Product Addendum may not need to sign the newer Commerce Product Module. Requirements and availability can vary by feature and country or region.
The 70% rate described for Supers should not be assumed to apply to every YouTube monetization feature: YouTube lists different revenue shares for watch-page ads and Shorts. See Choose how you want to monetize – Computer.

Where to check your agreement and earnings
- Review your revenue-share terms: In YouTube Studio, go to Settings → Agreements.
- View reported Supers revenue: In YouTube Analytics, go to Revenue → How you make money.
YouTube’s account records are the place to verify the agreement and revenue attributed to your channel; the general percentage does not provide a transaction-by-transaction payout estimate.
Revenue share is not take-home pay
The sales-tax deduction in YouTube’s Super Chat calculation is separate from a creator’s income-tax obligations. YouTube says YouTube Partner Program creators must submit U.S. tax information and may be subject to withholding, and that creators may owe taxes where they live. The actual liability depends on the creator’s circumstances and jurisdiction; consult the applicable tax authority or a qualified tax professional rather than treating the platform’s 70% share as after-tax income.
