It is an officially Xbox-licensed, wired USB-C controller for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Windows 10/11 PCs—not an original Xbox 360 controller revived for new consoles. Hyperkin’s US store listed it at $49.99 when checked in August 2026. Its defining trade-off is simple: familiar 360-era styling, but no wireless play.
What Hyperkin revealed—and when
Hyperkin announced the controller on November 22, 2022, describing an officially Xbox-licensed design inspired by Microsoft’s Xbox 360 controller. The announcement targeted an early-2023 release and initially named black, white, pink and red versions; those were launch plans, not a guarantee that every color remains in stock today. At the time, Hyperkin had not announced a price. Thurrott’s report on the announcement documents that reveal. The product is now marketed as the Xenon.
“Xbox 360 controller” is shorthand for its design inspiration. Hyperkin makes the Xenon; Xbox licensing does not mean Microsoft manufactured it, and the available product specifications do not establish that it reproduces the original controller’s internal parts.
What changed from the Xbox 360 design?
The Xenon keeps the familiar general silhouette and offset-stick arrangement, but adapts the controls and connection for newer platforms. It should be understood as a modernized homage, not an identical reissue.

Hyperkin’s current Xenon product listing describes a detachable 10-foot USB-C cable, vibration feedback and precision analog triggers. Xbox’s official accessory page highlights the Share button, impulse triggers, vibration and Xbox licensing.
Which systems does the Xenon support?
- Xbox Series X|S: listed as compatible.
- Xbox One: listed as compatible.
- Windows 10/11 PC: listed as compatible over USB.
The original Xbox 360 is not among the platforms listed on the current product pages, so do not buy the Xenon on the assumption that it works with that console. It is also not advertised for macOS, Linux, SteamOS, mobile devices, Nintendo Switch or PlayStation. On Windows, game support and button prompts can vary; individual games or software may require remapping.

Is it wireless?
No. Hyperkin and Xbox describe the Xenon as a wired controller, and Hyperkin specifies a detachable, 10-foot USB-C cable. USB-C identifies the connector, not a wireless feature. The cable means there is no battery to charge or wireless pairing step, but it can constrain where you sit and requires cable management. No Bluetooth or Xbox Wireless operation is listed.
What does it cost now?
Hyperkin’s US store listed the Xenon at $49.99 in the August 16–18, 2026 pricing check. That is a vendor-listed price, not a guaranteed price at every retailer or in every region; discounts, shipping, tax and color-specific stock can change the final cost. The 2022 announcement had not disclosed a price.

For context, Microsoft’s US recommended-pricing document lists the Xbox Wireless Controller Core at $64.99, though retail prices vary. That is a reference point rather than a like-for-like comparison: Microsoft’s controller has a different shape and supports wireless use. Microsoft’s pricing document provides the stated US recommendation.
Who is the Xenon a good fit for?
Choose it for 360-style ergonomics and wired play
The Xenon makes the most sense if you specifically prefer the Xbox 360-era shape, want a licensed controller for a newer Xbox or Windows PC, and are comfortable staying connected by cable. Its appeal is the familiar design paired with current-platform support, rather than a high-end feature set.

Look elsewhere if you need wireless or advanced controls
It is a poor fit if your setup depends on wireless play, or if you are shopping for Hall-effect sticks, rear paddles, adjustable trigger stops, custom profiles or companion configuration software. Those features are not established in the Xenon product information; their absence from the listing should not be read as a technical teardown, but the available specifications do not offer them as reasons to buy.

The Microsoft controller is the more natural starting point for someone who values wireless use and first-party support over retro styling. The Competitor is more relevant to buyers seeking a modern wired design. Neither is a substitute for the Xenon’s specific appeal: the 360-inspired shape.
