Find Hytale screenshots on Windows
- Open File Explorer.
- Go to
C:Usersand identify the folder for your Windows sign-in account. - Open that account folder, then open
PicturesandHytale Screenshots. The full reported default path isC:Users[Windows Username]PicturesHytale Screenshots.
This Windows location is reported by guides from Prima Games and All Things How; it is not confirmed in an official Hytale screenshot-specific support article.
Take an in-game screenshot and hide the HUD
F12 is the reported default key for Hytale’s built-in screenshot capture. To take a cleaner image without the interface, press F8 to hide the HUD, capture the screenshot, then press F8 again to restore it. These key instructions are reported by Prima Games and All Things How.
If F12 does not take a screenshot, check Hytale’s controls settings: the screenshot binding may have been changed. Use the assigned key and then look in the same reported Windows folder.

If a screenshot is missing
- Check how it was captured. Hytale’s F12 capture and a Windows operating-system screenshot shortcut are different methods and may save images to different locations. Check the destination associated with the shortcut you used rather than assuming every capture goes into Hytale’s folder.
- Confirm the Windows account folder. The path depends on the account folder under
C:Users; it may not match a display name or the name you expect. - Check the active binding. If you rebound the screenshot key, pressing F12 may not capture anything.
Do not confuse screenshots with Hytale game data or logs
Hytale’s May 14, 2026 Pre-Release Patch Notes (Update 5) describe storage locations for game data, not screenshots. The notes say the Release patchline continues to use %HYTALE%/UserData/, while non-release patchlines use separate directories under %HYTALE%/data/, including %HYTALE%/data/pre-release/. That change is not evidence that screenshots moved out of the reported Pictures folder.
Likewise, the official How to Find Your Hytale Logs support article covers client-log locations and launcher navigation, not screenshots. Its %APPDATA%HytaleUserDataLogs location is for logs, so it is not where to look for captured images.

What about macOS and Linux?
The available sources do not establish where Hytale’s built-in screenshot function saves images on macOS or Linux. All Things How describes macOS system screenshot shortcuts, but those are operating-system captures—not confirmation of Hytale’s own screenshot destination. Do not assume the Windows Pictures path applies to other platforms.
