What is I Want to Play the Villain!?
The game’s Steam full-game listing describes it as “a theatre-themed logic puzzle game.” You arrange actors into roles and make adjustments to create a show that works for the cast. It is presented as a single-player puzzle game, not as a guide to real-world theatre or a general villain-themed game.
The listing describes chapters with distinct settings, characters, mechanics, and stories. Changing story elements can lead to different performances and outcomes. Steam also says the puzzles become more challenging across the game, but does not publish a detailed walkthrough, complete actor roster, or exhaustive account of the mechanics.
How does actor management work?
Actor management is the core puzzle: the listing says every actor has “their own wishes, ambitions, fears, and favorite roles.” In practical terms, you use those details as constraints while building a cast and performance:

- Assign roles and pair characters in ways that fit those preferences and avoid feared situations.
- Change costumes or story elements when the current arrangement creates a conflict.
- Reassess the whole cast, since a change that helps one actor may affect another part of the show.
Steam frames the objective as making everyone happy on stage. Its listing does not establish that each puzzle has only one valid solution. These are the mechanics as described by the store page, not a hands-on account of the unreleased full game.

Steam lists a free, single-player demo released August 17, 2026. Visit the Steam demo listing to check its current availability and install it. The full-game page gives Q1 2027 as the planned release window and says the game is not yet available; that window may change, so check the live listing for updates.

It also lists saving anytime and an option to play without quick-time events. These are Steam listing claims, not guarantees that every device behaves identically. Steam Deck compatibility is listed as unknown.
