Winning his first Gold Logie has not changed Sam Pang, he says. “I was annoying and unbearable before it, and nothing has changed.” In an interview with Clare Rigden for The West Australian, the comedian looked back on the award and discussed the planned third season of Sam Pang Tonight.
When does Sam Pang Tonight return?
Sam Pang Tonight is scheduled to return for its third season on Ten on Monday, October 19, 2026, at 8.40pm, according to Rigden’s interview published on October 3, 2026. The date and time are a reported schedule, so check Ten’s current listings for any changes.
Pang said the show’s first season consisted of eight episodes at the start of the previous year, with a second season airing later that year. He could not make the program earlier in 2026 because he was filming Ground Up; Ten agreed to schedule the new episodes after Have You Been Paying Attention? finished.
What is planned for the new season?
The program is a late-night chat show, and Pang expected it to remain weekly, with the aim of making an entertaining, funny hour of television. Its production details were not settled when he spoke to Rigden: the first two seasons were filmed live, but the team was still considering whether to record the new season somewhat earlier, perhaps earlier in the day.

Returning segments and guest announcers
Monday Monologues and Wheel Of Segments were among the regular features expected to return. Pang said rotating guest announcers were also planned, with Kitty Flanagan, Anne Edmonds, Lawrence Mooney, Tim McDonald and Guy Montgomery among the possibilities. The guest roster was still being worked out and would depend on who was in town.
Pang recalled having Rosie O’Donnell on the show, followed by Russell Crowe and Rachel Griffiths the next week. He described those appearances as surreal and hoped that guests’ good experiences would encourage others to visit. The program would also keep four other segments to sustain the show whether or not a major guest was available.

What did Sam Pang say about winning the Gold Logie?
Pang called the ceremony a fun night and a wonderful experience, but said the award had not changed him. In his acceptance speech, he wanted to recognize people working throughout Australian television, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. He described the Logies as a celebration for the industry, rather than a reason to treat his own work differently.
His year had included hosting Seven’s weekly AFL chat show The Front Bar, appearing as a regular panellist on Ten’s Have You Been Paying Attention?, and starring in Ground Up, which Rigden described as Pang’s first scripted comedy series for ABC. He called the year a good one and said he was fortunate to have variety in his work. The interview also noted that he was due back on The Front Bar and Have You Been Paying Attention? within days of the ceremony.
