IKEA and Xbox launched YXSTABY, a nine-piece gaming furniture and accessories collection, on October 1, 2026. The official €17.99 price identified for the collection is for its controller display box on IKEA Netherlands’ website—not a confirmed US price of $17.99. Both companies say availability can vary by market.
What is the IKEA and Xbox YXSTABY collection?
YXSTABY is a collaboration designed for gaming in shared living spaces as well as everyday home use. IKEA says a designer from each company worked together on every piece. The collection draws on gaming hardware—such as thumbsticks and the D-pad—for furniture and accessories, rather than being limited to a dedicated gaming desk setup. IKEA’s announcement and Xbox Wire’s launch announcement describe the collaboration and its intended use.
The companies frame the range as a way to make gaming equipment fit more naturally into the home. That is their design aim, not an independent assessment of comfort, durability or day-to-day performance.
What comes in the YXSTABY collection?
The nine-piece collection spans seating, mobile furniture, workspace support, storage and controller-inspired decor. The companies’ announcements describe these uses:

Designer David Wahl said, “It even moves the way a thumbstick does, so it tilts with you while you play.” This is a designer’s description, not a comfort test.
- Rolling side table: IKEA says it can hold controllers, rolls between spaces and has charging space behind sliding doors.
- Mobile TV stand: Designed to move to where people are playing, with storage at the back.
- Monitor stand: Intended for one or two screens, with storage underneath and holders for a phone, headphones and controller.
- Controller display box: A mirrored box for displaying a controller, figurines and other collectibles.
- D-pad cushion: A controller-inspired cushion.
- Stainless-steel D-pad platter: A serving accessory shaped around the controller’s directional pad.
- Toolbox: IKEA’s US announcement describes a place to gather controllers, cables and hardware; its lid can also serve as a laptop stand.
The product descriptions come from IKEA and Xbox; the announcements do not establish detailed dimensions, materials for every item, weight limits, assembly requirements or independent performance results. See IKEA’s US announcement for its toolbox description and the other official announcements for the collection’s stated functions.
How much does the IKEA Xbox gaming furniture cost?
IKEA Netherlands lists the controller display box at €17.99. That is the lowest itemized price in the Netherlands announcement, not evidence that the box costs $17.99 in the United States. The same page lists these prices in euros:

How should you choose between the pieces?
Match the item to the role you need it to fill rather than assuming every product is necessary for a gaming setup:
- For seating: Compare the lounge chair with the thumbstick stool; the announcements do not provide enough technical or testing information to rank their comfort.
- For moving equipment: The TV stand is described as a way to move a screen, while the side table is for nearby controllers and charging space.
- For a gaming or work surface: The monitor stand adds under-screen storage and device holders. The toolbox’s lid is described as laptop support, but IKEA’s announcement does not provide a capacity or size specification.
- For keeping or showing accessories: The toolbox gathers controllers, cables and hardware; the mirrored display box is meant to show a controller and collectibles.
- For decorative or serving use: The D-pad cushion and stainless-steel platter bring controller-inspired design into a room without serving as furniture.
Before buying, check the local product pages for dimensions, materials, load limits, assembly information and stock. Those details are not fully established in the launch announcements, and the listed Netherlands prices should not be assumed to apply elsewhere.

What IKEA and Xbox say about the design
IKEA presents the project as a blend of its home-furnishing experience and Xbox’s gaming perspective. Philip Dilé, Product Design Developer at IKEA of Sweden, said: “Together, we set out to make furniture people really want in their home, not furniture they accept because it is what you need to game,” IKEA’s announcement also quotes Xbox Head of Design Carl Ledbetter describing the goal as designing for the broader home gaming experience, from the screen to the surrounding space. These comments explain the companies’ design intent; they are not independent product reviews.
