IKEA and Xbox have launched YXSTABY, a nine-piece collection of gaming-inspired furniture and accessories for fitting play into everyday home spaces. Xbox said the collection became available worldwide on October 1, 2026; IKEA cautions that availability varies by market, so check your local IKEA site for current listings and stock.
What is IKEA’s October news for Xbox fans?
It is a home-furnishing collaboration, not a new Xbox console or game. The IKEA XBOX YXSTABY collection brings together seating, tables, display pieces and storage intended to make gaming easier to accommodate in shared living spaces. The companies say the designs were developed collaboratively, with a designer from each team working on every piece.
IKEA’s announcement describes gaming as part of everyday life for more than 3 billion people, but does not identify the study or methodology behind that figure. The company frames its collaboration with Xbox as combining its life-at-home experience with Xbox’s understanding of how people play; those are the companies’ characterizations, not independent assessments.
What is in the IKEA Xbox YXSTABY collection?
The official announcements describe nine pieces. Their listed functions and design cues make it easier to narrow the range to the kind of gaming setup you need:

| Item | What IKEA and Xbox describe |
|---|---|
| Gaming lounge chair | A chair designed to suit a living room rather than look like a conventional gaming chair. |
| Thumbstick-inspired stool | A controller-inspired seat developed using original Xbox controller 3D files, with a grip-like texture and a curved seat. IKEA designer David Wahl said it “moves the way a thumbstick does,” tilting with the user. |
| D-pad cushion | A soft accessory shaped around the directional pad on an Xbox controller. |
| D-pad platter | A decorative platter that also takes its form from the controller’s directional pad. |
| Mirrored controller display box | A display piece designed to show a controller from multiple sides. |
| TV stand on castors | A mobile stand with storage at the rear, according to IKEA. |
| Rolling side table | A movable table with sliding-door storage and space for charging. |
| Monitor stand | Raises one or two screens and includes storage and holders for a phone, headphones and controller. |
| Toolbox/laptop support | Keeps controllers, cables and hardware together; its lid can serve as a laptop stand. |
The controller is the collection’s central visual reference: the D-pad informs two accessories, the thumbstick inspires the stool, and the display box puts a controller on show. IKEA says its broader design premise is to support gaming while allowing equipment to be stored or concealed when it is not in use.
When did the collection launch, and where can you buy it?
IKEA’s global announcement on August 26, 2026, said the range would be available in stores and online from October 1. Xbox’s launch-day announcement said it was available worldwide starting October 1. IKEA also says availability may vary by market, and Xbox advised readers to contact local IKEA. The launch announcements establish the intended launch date, not identical online availability or live inventory in every country.

To check what is actually available, visit the IKEA website for your country or contact a local store. Search for “YXSTABY” or the individual item name, such as “Xbox controller display box.” The launch announcements do not provide a current, market-by-market price or stock list, so confirm both on the local product page before making plans to buy.

The companies present YXSTABY as furniture designed to bring gaming into ordinary home life, with choices for seating, moving equipment, managing accessories and displaying a controller. Xbox design head Carl Ledbetter described the collaboration as an opportunity to design for the gaming experience beyond the hardware, including the surrounding space. These statements explain the design goals; they are not independent reviews of comfort, durability, stability or value.

For a practical choice, consider whether you want a dedicated seat or flexible furniture, whether castors would help you move a screen or table, and whether you need visible display or concealed storage. If you use a monitor setup, the monitor stand’s screen-raising and device-holder features may matter more than the controller-inspired accessories. The announcements describe those intended functions, but do not provide independent performance measurements.
