Ink Console is a development-stage handheld designed for interactive fiction and gamebooks, not fast-action gaming. Its 7.5-inch monochrome e-ink screen is better suited to reading story passages and choosing what happens next than to displaying rapid animation. The device has been announced, but the cited coverage does not establish a finished retail release or a confirmed price.
What is Ink Console?
Ink Console is an e-reader and game system concept centered on interactive stories: gamebooks, text adventures and choose-your-own-adventure-style fiction. TechSpot describes it as drawing inspiration from classic text-based games and branching-story books. Its low-refresh monochrome display makes it a specialized narrative device rather than a general-purpose handheld console.
Project creator Daniel “Dana” Puchau described the motivation as: “The idea behind the project came from a desire to bring the magic of text adventures, like the 1980s classic Zork I, to a new audience unfamiliar with these games.” (TechSpot)
Why use e-ink for games?
E-ink is designed to present relatively static content, and its refresh is slower than an LCD or OLED screen. That trade-off is poorly suited to twitch controls, fast movement or fluid animation, but makes sense for text, still illustrations and deliberate choices. In Ink Console’s intended use, the player reads a passage and decides what to do rather than reacting to a rapidly changing screen.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The display is monochrome, so it also does not offer the color presentation typical of contemporary game handhelds. The appeal is closer to reading a digital book than playing a high-frame-rate console game.

Does Ink Console support Zork?
Zork is part of the project’s inspiration, but the available coverage does not confirm that the device ships with Zork, runs a Zork interpreter, or supports other specific text-adventure engines. The creator’s reference to Zork I explains the project’s aim; it should not be read as a compatibility promise. Check an official campaign or project update for a specific title or format before assuming it will work.
