Into the Radius 2 vs. Into the Radius: what changed, and which should you buy? The original is the better fit if you want a solo-only VR survival campaign; choose Into the Radius 2 if you want online co-op, its new sequel story, or the PS VR2 edition. Both are VR games, and the sequel has higher stated PC requirements, so check platform and hardware compatibility before purchasing.

How is the sequel different?
Co-op is the biggest practical change
The original is solo-only. The Steam version of Into the Radius 2 supports solo play as well as online co-op for up to four players, making it the clear option if playing with friends is essential. Steam lists the modes and player limit.
It is a new story, not just a co-op version
The sequel returns to Pechorsk and its survival-shooter premise—exploration, weapons, and anomalies—but tells a new story. The developer’s Steam announcements also distinguish story content from free-roam play. Read the official Steam announcements.

The sequel raises the PC hardware baseline
On Steam, the original lists a GTX 1070 minimum, while the sequel lists an RTX 2060 minimum and an RTX 3080 recommendation. Both list 16 GB of RAM, but the sequel also requires OpenXR and specifies unsupported HTC Vive Wands and WMR devices. Confirm that your headset and controller setup are supported on the listing; the GPU figures alone do not establish compatibility or performance for a particular system. PS VR2 expands the sequel’s platform options
Into the Radius 2 launched for PS VR2 on September 24, 2026, according to PlayStation Blog. That announcement said a free update bringing two-player co-op to PS VR2 was planned for Q4 2026. Which game should you buy?
Choose Into the Radius for a solo campaign
- You want a solo-only VR survival experience.
- You want the original Pechorsk campaign rather than the sequel’s new story.
- Your PC and VR setup meet the original’s listed requirements, and its lower listed US Steam price is relevant to you.

Choose Into the Radius 2 for co-op or PS VR2
- You want online co-op with friends on Steam, where the listing specifies up to four players.
- You want the sequel’s story.
- You plan to play on PS VR2 and have access to that headset.

Do you need VR, and can your PC run the sequel?
Both Steam listings identify their games as VR-only; these are not standard flat-screen PC games. The sequel’s Steam minimum is an RTX 2060 and 16 GB RAM, with an RTX 3080 and 16 GB RAM recommended. It requires OpenXR and lists HTC Vive Wands and WMR devices as unsupported.
