What the evidence says about inZOI’s character creator
Steam describes character customization and house building as core creative features of inZOI, a single-player life simulation developed by inZOI Studio and published by KRAFTON. The game entered Steam Early Access on March 27, 2025. Its store FAQ calls Create a Zoi a foundational system while acknowledging that optimization, game depth, and interactions still need work. Steam’s inZOI listing also cautions that Early Access games are incomplete and may change.

That makes customization central to the game’s pitch, but it does not establish a separate creator’s Steam popularity. SteamPulse’s player figures track the full game’s Steam activity, not use of a standalone character-creator demo. As of October 6, 2026, the tracker recorded 2,747 observed players and a tracked peak of 77,325 in its available record. Those are dated, Steam-only figures—not creator-specific counts or a measure of the game’s entire audience. SteamPulse’s inZOI record
What player feedback says is working—and what is not
In a June 2025 article, PC Gamer reported results from a KRAFTON player-feedback survey. Character customization was the most-cited positive at 43%; graphics were cited by 22%, while 15% named the game creating competition in the life-sim space as a positive. The same reporting found that 42% named a lack of simulation content as a least-liked aspect, and 11% cited unnatural relationships, interactions, and emotions. PC Gamer’s account of the survey

These percentages describe a company survey as reported by a journalist, not a representative industry poll. The cited passage does not give the respondent count, question wording, or sampling method, so the results are useful as reported feedback—not proof of what all players think.
Is inZOI a Sims killer?
Not on the evidence available here. The survey indicates that some respondents saw competition in the life-sim genre as a positive, but it does not establish that inZOI has displaced The Sims, nor that reviewers broadly agree it is a “Sims killer.” Steam player counts cannot settle that comparison: they cover activity on Steam, are snapshots in time, and do not measure the full audience of either franchise.
Studio head Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim described the challenge in an interview quoted by PC Gamer: “The biggest thing I learned is, The Sims has been the biggest for three decades, and I think I have figured out why that is.” That is Kim’s assessment of The Sims’ longevity, not independent market-share or sales evidence. Compare the games on what you want from a life sim, rather than treating a single player count or “killer” label as a verdict:
Recommended Free Tools
- Character creation: inZOI makes customization a prominent creative feature, and the reported survey suggests it was a standout for respondents.
- Simulation and social play: the same survey’s most common criticism was a lack of simulation content; some respondents also objected to awkward relationships and interactions.
- Visual style and performance: inZOI emphasizes realistic graphics. Check the current Steam system requirements and the performance of the build you plan to play; screenshots alone do not establish how it will run on your hardware.
- Development state: Steam labels the game Early Access, so judge the version currently available rather than treating planned improvements as delivered features. The store FAQ described a plan to improve the game through Early Access for at least a year, while noting that its roadmap could change; that is a published plan, not a guarantee of the current schedule.
- Audience data: Steam concurrent-player observations refer to Steam activity only and should not be read as total sales or all-platform player numbers.
Steam’s listing reproduces the developers’ explanation for choosing Early Access: “As this is our first-ever life simulation game, we wanted to create an experience that meets the expectations of players who have enjoyed this genre for many years.” That context matters: inZOI’s creator can be a compelling reason to try it, while the broader life simulation remains a separate part of the experience to evaluate.
