The iQOO 15 Ultra is a China-launched gaming-focused flagship, announced on February 4, 2026. Its defining combination is a built-in fan and dedicated cooling duct, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor with a separate Q3 gaming chip, and a 7,400mAh typical-capacity battery. Those are meaningful gaming credentials, but they do not guarantee a particular frame rate or battery runtime—and overseas buyers must weigh China-market software, carrier compatibility and warranty support.
Official suggested retail prices in China start at ¥6,199 for 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The phone has no confirmed official U.S. launch or U.S. price in the available product information. iQOO’s official specifications and pricing are the best reference for its hardware and China MSRP.
What launched, and when?
iQOO announced the 15 Ultra in China on February 4, 2026, positioning it as a performance-first Ultra rather than an imaging-led camera flagship. It comes in silver and black, runs OriginOS 6.0, and is offered with 16GB or 24GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage. Storage is fixed; there is no microSD expansion.
The distinction between an announcement, preorder period and general retail availability matters when comparing prices. The figures below are China-market suggested retail prices, not delivered prices for buyers importing the phone.

Active cooling: what the fan changes
Most phones rely on passive cooling: heat spreads through materials such as a vapor chamber and frame, then dissipates without a powered fan. The 15 Ultra adds iQOO’s Ice Dome cooling system, which uses a built-in fan and a separate air duct. The design is intended to move air through the phone and help it sustain performance during demanding games, streaming or gaming while charging.
That is a different approach, not a promise that the phone will never throttle. Results still depend on ambient temperature, the game and graphics settings, firmware limits, charging heat, whether a case obstructs airflow and how the user holds the phone. A fan also introduces moving parts: dust, noise, vent blockage and long-term maintenance are considerations that passive cooling avoids.
Secondary coverage reports a fan approximately 17 × 17mm in size and airflow of about 0.315 cubic feet per minute; treat those as reported figures rather than independently established performance results. The available material does not establish a controlled, independent measurement of fan noise or the cooling system’s sustained gaming gains, nor does it clarify in detail when the fan runs or how much control users have over its modes. This secondary coverage discusses the fan and related claims.
iQOO lists IP68/IP69 protection for the phone, while launch material gives separate protection claims for the cooling system. Those are manufacturer claims based on defined tests, not a guarantee against every real-world exposure. Do not assume the fan makes the phone safe for saltwater, blocked vents, intentional rinsing or underwater use. Avoid obstructing the airflow path with a case unless its fit and compatibility are clear.

What 7,400mAh means in practice
The advertised battery figure is its typical capacity: 7,400mAh at 3.74V. The listed rated capacity is 7,240mAh. In energy terms, the figures are 27.68Wh typical and 27.08Wh rated. Typical and rated capacity are different specification conventions, so comparisons—especially with regulatory documents—should use like-for-like figures. The battery is a single-cell design.
Charging is rated at up to 100W wired and 40W wireless, with PD/PPS compatibility and OTG reverse charging listed in the official specifications. Reaching the advertised wired rate depends on compatible charging equipment and conditions; temperature, battery level and charger choice can affect the actual rate. Wireless charging likewise requires compatible equipment.
A large capacity gives the phone more energy to work with, but it does not translate directly into a fixed number of gaming hours. Display brightness and refresh rate, the game’s workload, mobile or Wi-Fi signal, ambient heat and charging while playing all change consumption. No controlled runtime result is established here, so claims of a specific number of hours would be misleading.

That is substantial for extended handheld play, even if the phone is not unusually thick given its battery and cooling hardware. Buyers trade a heavier device for capacity and gaming-focused components; a large battery does not make it a light or compact phone.

Processor, graphics and the Q3 chip
The main processor is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, specified as an eight-core, 3nm platform. iQOO lists two performance cores at up to 4.6GHz and six others at up to 3.62GHz, alongside an Adreno 840 GPU. Memory is LPDDR5X Ultra Pro quad-channel; storage is UFS 4.1.
A separate Q3 gaming chip is intended to assist with graphics-related work such as resolution enhancement and frame processing. It supplements the Snapdragon platform; it does not replace the main CPU or GPU. The practical results depend on what a specific game supports and how the phone’s software handles that title.
Be cautious with headline frame-rate claims. A game must support the relevant mode, and results can vary with resolution, graphics preset, firmware, temperature and test duration. A processed or interpolated frame-rate figure is not necessarily the same as the GPU rendering every frame natively. The listed 144Hz display is a ceiling for the panel, not a universal promise that every game will run at 144 frames per second.
Gaming controls and display
The phone’s gaming case is about more than its processor. It has pressure-sensitive gaming shoulder controls, a gyroscope, dual-axis vibration motors and stereo speakers. Secondary coverage describes two 600Hz shoulder controls and a 480Hz multi-touch response rate; treat those numbers as reported specifications unless confirmed against the final official specification for the particular market and software version.

- Shoulder controls: They can move actions such as aiming, firing, jumping or activating a skill away from the touchscreen, freeing thumb space. Their usefulness depends on the game and the control mapping it allows.
- 144Hz panel: Higher refresh can make supported motion look smoother, but the game must offer a matching mode and the phone must sustain it.
- Gyroscope and haptics: Gyroscope aiming and vibration can add control and feedback. They do not directly raise frame rate.
- Audio and networking: Stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos claims, Wi-Fi 7 and gaming-oriented network features round out the package. Network optimization cannot eliminate weak coverage, a congested Wi-Fi network or server latency.
The display is a 6.85-inch AMOLED panel with 3168 × 1440 resolution, up to 144Hz refresh, 10-bit color (about 1.07 billion colors), P3 support and HDR support. iQOO lists an 8,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 94.37% screen-to-body ratio and 19.8:9 aspect ratio. Its product page also promotes 118% P3 color-gamut area coverage, 2160Hz PWM dimming at low brightness, DC dimming at higher brightness, a 1-nit sleep-display mode and a reduced-polarization or natural-light approach.
Those display-comfort descriptions are manufacturer claims, not evidence that the screen prevents eye disease or eliminates fatigue. iQOO states that the product is not a medical device. Individual comfort varies, and screen settings do not remove the need to take breaks during long sessions. The official product page describes the display and its marketed features.

This is not a stripped-down gaming handset. The rear system comprises a 50MP main camera, 50MP periscope telephoto and 50MP ultrawide; the front camera is 32MP. Optical stabilization is listed for the main and periscope cameras, with video stabilization support across the rear cameras. Specifications alone do not establish how its photos compare with camera-first flagships, and there is no independent camera test here to support a best-in-class claim.
Other listed features include an ultrasonic 3D fingerprint reader, NFC, Wi-Fi 7 and 31 5G bands, including N79 in Chinese launch material. The China-market software is OriginOS 6.0. Overseas buyers should confirm how the exact device and firmware handle Google services, language, Android Auto, banking and DRM apps, notifications, payments, carrier voice-over-LTE and 5G before purchasing. Availability and behavior can differ by region, seller and carrier; the band count alone does not guarantee U.S. network compatibility.

China pricing and overseas availability

Launch reports described a temporary promotional entry price of about ¥5,499, and China-specific government-subsidy pricing as low as about ¥4,999 for eligible buyers. These are not interchangeable with the ¥6,199 MSRP: promotions were time- and location-specific, and subsidy eligibility applies only to qualifying buyers. The established launch and purchase path is China’s. The available official product material does not establish a U.S. launch, U.S. price or official U.S. retail availability. Importers may offer the phone, but a Chinese MSRP is not a delivered overseas cost: shipping, tax, import charges, seller markup and exchange rates can all change the total. A buyer may also need to return the device to the seller for warranty service rather than use local support.
Check the exact model, firmware, carrier bands and VoLTE support with your carrier before importing. A listed 5G band does not prove that a device has carrier certification or will work with every carrier’s network configuration. Confirm Google-service setup, language, payment and banking app behavior, notification delivery, update arrangements, warranty terms, charger plug and charging compatibility with the seller. Do not assume a global ROM or local repair service is available.

It makes the most sense for:
- Mobile gamers who value built-in cooling, gaming shoulder controls and a high-refresh display over a lighter phone.
- Heavy users who want a large battery and accept the 227g weight.
- China-based buyers able to purchase through local channels and use the phone’s intended regional software.
- Import enthusiasts willing to check network support, software behavior, taxes and warranty arrangements in advance.
Look elsewhere if:
- You need guaranteed U.S. carrier compatibility, straightforward local warranty service or a confirmed global software build.
- You prioritize a compact, light phone or prefer not to have a fan, vents and moving parts.
- Camera performance, long-term update commitments or polished regional support are more important than gaming hardware; the available specifications do not settle those questions.
- You expect a phone to replace a dedicated console or PC. The iQOO is still a phone, and game support, controls, screen size and sustained conditions shape the experience.
An external cooler is another approach for someone who already owns a suitable phone: it can avoid buying a new handset, but adds an accessory, bulk and sometimes a separate power requirement. A mainstream flagship may offer a better fit for regional support and camera priorities, while dedicated gaming phones emphasize gaming controls and cooling. Those are comparison categories, not a claim that one alternative is universally superior.
