The “huge catch” was that these were temporary previews with access to selected multiplayer content, not the complete game.
Is the Battlefield 6 free week still available?
No. The Season 2 trial reported by Windows Central on March 18, 2026, ran through March 24. EA later announced a separate Season 4 trial for September 15–22, 2026; that offer has also ended. Neither date range is a current way to access the game for free.
EA’s September 14, 2026 Season 4 guide described that event as a “limited-time Free Trial” for selected maps, modes, and events. Check EA’s current Battlefield announcements for any future trial dates rather than relying on an old free-week headline.
What was the catch with the Battlefield 6 trial?
The trial was not the full Battlefield 6 multiplayer suite. Windows Central’s March 18 report on the earlier Season 2 offer said it included only a limited selection of multiplayer content. EA’s later Season 4 announcement likewise specified selected content rather than unrestricted access to the full game.

That distinction matters: a free trial lets players sample the included content during a set window, while continued access to the base game requires buying it. EA’s purchase page lists Battlefield 6 as a separately sold base game and describes purchase as a license to access digital content under EA’s User Agreement.
Which maps and modes were in the later trial?
EA’s Season 4 guide named four maps: Wake Island, Tsuru Reef, Cairo Bazaar, and Hagental Base. It also highlighted Conquest and Escalation battles tied to the Deep Six Collection Event.

The guide mentioned a Deep Six Event Playlist with Contracts, Casual Breakthrough, verified Portal experiences, and other content. Those event and playlist details describe what EA said would be available during the limited trial; they should not be read as access to every map, mode, or feature in the full game.
How did players access the September trial?
EA said the Season 4 trial required Battlefield REDSEC and all game updates, and that conditions and restrictions applied. The offer’s dates have passed, so these requirements do not provide a way to start that trial now.

EA’s purchase page lists the game for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox and links to the EA app, PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and Epic Games Store. Availability and terms can differ by platform and region, so check the relevant store for current access and purchase options.
What do you need to play Battlefield 6 online?
EA lists persistent internet, an EA Account, and installation of the EA app among the PC requirements. On console, internet is required for online features, and EA and applicable platform accounts may be required. Check EA’s game and purchase information for the terms applicable to your platform.

Did trial progress carry over?
Windows Central reported that progression carried over if players bought the game after the Season 2 trial. That statement concerns the earlier event; EA’s September 2026 Season 4 announcement does not confirm whether progression carried over from that later trial. Do not assume the Season 2 detail applies to another offer unless EA confirms it.
