What does “highest-rated game ever” mean here?
The claim is accurate only with a scope attached: Metacritic’s Nintendo DS user-score ranking. The October 8, 2026 page capture placed Disney Cory in the House first on that list. Metacritic’s user score is separate from its critic Metascore. A user score reflects user ratings on that service; a Metascore is an aggregate based on critic reviews. Neither is an objective measure of a game’s quality, and one should not be substituted for the other.
What is the current score, and why do reports differ?
Metacritic showed a 9.2 user score from 9,178 ratings in the page capture accessed October 8, 2026. That is a dated snapshot, not a fixed result. For a fair comparison, note the platform and ranking scope, whether the figure is a user score or critic aggregate, and when it was recorded. A score without those details can make a temporary, platform-specific position sound like an all-time universal title.
Why is a meme-famous DS game drawing so many high ratings?
GamesRadar and TechRadar describe renewed attention to the game as meme-fuelled, with users posting positive ratings on Metacritic. That coverage helps explain the surge in attention, but it does not establish a single campaign organizer, a precise start date, or why each individual chose to rate the game. TechRadar’s coverage

The ratings therefore reflect a mix of the game itself and its online reputation. A high user score can show how a community is responding at a given moment; it cannot, by itself, demonstrate broad critical consensus.
Does it have a critic Metascore?
No Metascore was displayed in the captured Metacritic page. The page listed two critic reviews, scored 30 and 40, and stated that four critic reviews are required for a Metascore.
