No Nintendo Switch 2 version of Grand Theft Auto VI has been announced. Take-Two’s latest official lineup lists the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a current release date of November 19, 2026. CEO Strauss Zelnick has described Take-Two’s platform choices as case by case, but he has not publicly ruled out a Switch 2 edition specifically. That leaves a future port possible—not confirmed or something to count on.
Which platforms are confirmed for GTA 6?
Take-Two’s latest official release lineup lists GTA VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The current announced release date is November 19, 2026.

The lineup does not list Nintendo Switch 2 or PC. It also does not list PS4 or Xbox One. Those platforms should be described as unannounced, not as permanently ruled out. A release date is subject to change, so check Rockstar or Take-Two’s official channels for any later update.

What did Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick say?
Zelnick’s comments, reported in the May 2025 report, describe Take-Two’s general approach to platforms: the company considers them case by case, aims to be where consumers are, and does not necessarily bring every game to every platform.

That is not a GTA VI-specific announcement. It is neither confirmation of a Switch 2 port nor a statement that one has been cancelled or rejected. Calling it “bad news” is a fair description of the uncertainty for Nintendo players, but it should not be mistaken for a formal no.
Does Take-Two publishing other Switch 2 games change the outlook?
Take-Two’s lineup includes Switch 2 releases such as PGA TOUR 2K25 and WWE 2K26. That shows the company publishes some games for Nintendo’s system, but it does not mean every label or franchise will follow. Take-Two publishes games through different labels, and each title can have distinct technical, commercial, and release-planning requirements. Support for 2K games is not evidence that Rockstar is preparing GTA VI for Switch 2.
Hardware could be one factor in a port decision, but no official statement establishes that Switch 2 cannot run the game. Cost, performance targets, expected sales, storage, and release strategy may also matter; without an announcement, claims about Rockstar’s specific reasoning are speculation.

Could GTA 6 come to Switch 2 later?
It is possible in principle that Rockstar could announce a native port after the PS5 and Xbox release, a substantially adapted edition, or a cloud-streamed version. It is also possible that no Switch 2 version will be made. There is no verified announcement or timetable for any of these possibilities.
A cloud version, if one were announced, would also be different from a native game installation: play could depend on a reliable internet connection, latency, server availability, and support in a player’s region. For now, these are scenarios, not plans reported by Take-Two.

No—not if GTA VI is the reason you are buying it. Nintendo’s console may make sense for Nintendo games, portable play, and its other available software, but the current official lineup does not promise GTA VI. If you want to play at launch, choose between the two confirmed platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

If you already own a Switch 2, keep an eye on Rockstar and Take-Two announcements, but do not treat rumors, retailer placeholders, or social-media posts as confirmation. A product page or platform announcement from Rockstar, Take-Two, or Nintendo would be the meaningful update.

No. Earlier Take-Two materials listed May 26, 2026, but that date was superseded. Take-Two’s later release-date update moved the game to November 19, 2026, and its latest lineup continues to list that date. The 2025 Switch 2 discussion should therefore be read with both updates in mind: the date changed, while the Switch 2 question remains unconfirmed.
