The conflicting-developer reports behind this headline date to November 2025, when the game was scheduled for May 26, 2026; they are not evidence of a new delay now. Rockstar’s release listing is the clearest current status, though a listed date can still change.
What were the conflicting reports?
On November 4, 2025, IndiaTimes reported that game developer interviewer and podcast host Reece “Kiwi Talkz” Reilly had heard differing views from developers associated with Rockstar’s Bangalore, Edinburgh, and San Diego studios. The developers were not named or quoted directly in the article, so the claim is best understood as Reilly’s secondhand account—not a verified internal disagreement at Rockstar. IndiaTimes’ November 4 report also discussed website changes and fan speculation, which are context rather than confirmation of a delay.
TechJuice reproduced Reilly’s November 2, 2025 public post. He wrote: “GTA 6 could still be delayed again yet, I have heard conflicting reports internally from different devs in different studios e.g Bangalore, Edinburgh and San Diego.” He added: “I can’t seem to get a consensus, it sounds like they are trying to hit it but it could be delayed again.” These statements describe uncertainty in what Reilly said he had heard; they are not a Rockstar announcement. TechJuice’s contemporaneous account said Rockstar had not confirmed another delay at the time.
Which release date did the rumor concern?
The November 2025 discussion was about whether GTA VI would meet its then-current May 26, 2026 target. Rockstar later changed the listed date to November 19, 2026. The dates belong to different points in the timeline: the old May target explains the rumor, while November 19 is the date Rockstar currently lists.

In May 2026, NME reported that Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick reiterated November 19 during an earnings call after an anonymous 4chan post claimed the game had moved to February 2027. That is dated reporting of company guidance, not a guarantee that the release date cannot change. NME’s May 2026 report covered the remarks and the rumor they addressed.

For release-date rumors, separate the source, date, and strength of the claim:

What should players expect now?
Based on the official listing, the announced date is November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The older conflicting-reports story does not establish that another delay is underway. Keep an eye on Rockstar’s official page for any change rather than treating dated speculation as an updated release announcement.
