Not according to Larian’s December 2025 statement: publishing director Michael Douse said there were “currently” no plans for a new Divinity: Original Sin 3. Two days later, Larian announced a different game, titled Divinity. The announcement confirmed a new entry in the series, but it did not identify that game as Original Sin 3.
What did Larian say about the Original Sin 3 rumors?
In December 2025, amid speculation around The Game Awards, Larian publishing director Michael Douse addressed the sequel rumors. As reported by PC Gamer, he wrote: “There aren’t currently any plans for a new Divinity Original Sin 3 game but once we are ready to show what we’ve been working on we will.”
The key qualifier is “currently”: Douse described Larian’s plans at that time. He was talking specifically about a new game called Divinity: Original Sin 3, not ruling out every possible project in the broader Divinity series.
Is the new Divinity game Original Sin 3?
No title announced by Larian identifies the new game as Divinity: Original Sin 3. Two days after Douse’s comment, the studio announced a game called Divinity. The official announcement quotes founder and game director Swen Vincke: “Despite our long history with the series, this is our first game entitled ‘Divinity.’”

That statement establishes the announced game’s title and distinguishes it from a game bearing the Original Sin subtitle. It does not establish whether the new Divinity shares story or gameplay connections with earlier entries, or whether Larian might make an Original Sin 3 in the future. The studio’s announcement and Douse’s earlier wording answer different questions: Larian announced a new Divinity game, while Douse said there were no current plans for a new Original Sin 3 at the time.

In May 2025, Larian’s X account briefly changed its handle to “@divinity,” prompting speculation that a new series game was imminent. PC Gamer later reported that Douse described the handle change as meaningless internal work. It was a rumor trigger, not confirmation that a game was in development or about to be revealed.
