Stellar Blade is worth considering on PC if you want timing-based melee combat, boss fights, and a New Game Plus run with more progression and cosmetics. The recommendation is less certain if story depth or consistently strong level design matters most: PC Gamer’s review praised the combat but criticized the story and parts of the level design. Check the current PC requirements against your hardware before buying.
What is the PC version, and when did it release?
Stellar Blade is a single-player, third-person action-adventure listed on Steam. Steam gives the PC release date as June 11, 2025; Shift Up’s second-quarter 2025 results presentation records the PC launch as June 12, 2025. PlayStation advertised unlocked frame rates, ultrawide and super-ultrawide support, and PC-specific graphics features. Its PC page lists GTX 1060 6 GB / Radeon RX 580 as a baseline graphics tier. Requirements and feature availability can change with updates, so consult the official PC page for the current requirements rather than relying on an old tier list.
The game’s combat includes blades as well as machine guns and laser blasters, and Steam flags fast-paced melee combat, violence, and revealing costumes in its content notice. Steam also applies a “souls-like” tag, but that label alone does not describe the full combat style.

How is the combat?
Combat is the strongest reason to buy, based on PC Gamer reviewer Mollie Taylor’s assessment of the PC build. Enemies use varied attack patterns that you can answer with dodges or parries; successful defensive timing can create openings for counterattacks. The central loop is to study a foe, land the right defensive move, then use the opening to attack. PC Gamer review
That rhythm has a learning curve. Taylor noted that Eve has fewer tools early on and that the timing takes adjustment. Adjustable difficulty and an optional on-screen timing aid can make the demands more manageable, but they do not change the core appeal: combat rewards attention to enemy patterns and well-timed responses. If you dislike timing-sensitive action, the same loop may feel frustrating rather than satisfying.

It is more accurate to think of Stellar Blade as a blend of Soulslike and stylish-action influences than as a pure Soulslike. Steam uses the tag; the review describes the game as drawing on both approaches.
Is the exploration good?
The official store description places EVE in Earth’s post-apocalyptic ruins, exploring science-fiction environments while fighting the Naytiba and uncovering the past. That makes exploration part of the adventure, but the evidence does not support calling the game fully open-world. Steam listing

Expect unevenness rather than uniformly excellent level design. Taylor criticized aspects of the level design, particularly in the opening hours. The environments may appeal if you enjoy ruined-world science fiction, but exploration is a less secure selling point than the combat.
How strong are the story and characters?
The premise is a post-apocalyptic fight against the Naytiba, with EVE uncovering what happened to the world. In Taylor’s review, however, story and worldbuilding were the game’s weakest areas, and the lead characters did not build enough rapport for her. That is one reviewer’s judgment, not a claim of universal consensus, but it is a substantial caveat for buyers who prioritize narrative depth.

Does Stellar Blade have New Game Plus?
Yes. Shift Up announced New Game Plus for the game’s April 26, 2024 launch, letting players continue after the credits with additional progression and cosmetics. The announcement lists expanded gear levels, new skills, and 34 new Eve outfits, along with accessories and cosmetics for Adam, Lily, and the Drone. Shift Up’s PlayStation Blog announcement
The listed additions include expanded weapon, body, beta, and tumbler levels; four new Beta skill moves; eight Beta/Burst skill enhancements; and five Drone skills. This gives players who want another run concrete progression and customization to pursue, rather than relying on replay value from the story alone.

Is the PC version a good fit for your setup?
Start with the official PC requirements and compare them with your actual hardware, especially if your graphics card is near the published baseline tier. PlayStation advertised unlocked frame rates and ultrawide and super-ultrawide display support, but the cited sources do not establish how the game performs across a range of PC configurations. A reviewer’s experience on one system is not a general performance guarantee.
A DualSense wireless controller is optional. Steam says the PC game’s combat sensations are enriched by DualSense vibration; it is a feature, not a requirement or evidence of a performance advantage. Steam listing
Who should buy Stellar Blade on PC?
- Good fit: You want timing-focused melee combat, boss encounters, and a skill curve built around reading attacks and responding with parries or dodges.
- Also appealing: You enjoy a second playthrough when it offers new upgrades, abilities, and cosmetics; New Game Plus has specific additions to pursue.
- Think twice: Story, character development, or consistently strong level design is your main priority. The cited PC review found notable weaknesses in these areas.
- Check first: Your PC is close to the listed baseline GPU tier. Verify current requirements on PlayStation’s PC page before purchasing.
Shift Up reported more than 1 million PC copies sold in three days and a launch-period peak of nearly 200,000 concurrent Steam users in its 2025 second-quarter results presentation.
