Yes. The 8BitDo Retro R8 Mouse N Edition is the natural visual match for an NES-themed 8BitDo keyboard: its off-white and red styling gives the pair a coordinated retro look. It is also a modern mouse, with a PAW 3395 sensor, three connection modes and a charging dock—not just a themed accessory.
Which Retro R8 Mouse matches an NES-style keyboard?
Choose the 8BitDo Retro R8 Mouse N Edition. Its off-white shell and red accents echo the NES-inspired look of 8BitDo’s retro keyboard family, so the two peripherals feel like a deliberate set. The R8 is also offered in other editions, so check that a listing specifically names the N Edition if matching the NES aesthetic is the priority.
What does the Retro R8 offer beyond its design?
8BitDo lists a PAW 3395 sensor, programmable buttons, six DPI levels, and a switchable left- or right-hand mode. The mouse measures 115 × 58 × 39.4 mm and weighs 77g; those figures are from 8BitDo’s 2026 technical page, not independent measurements. A charging dock is included.
The mouse supports USB-C wired use, 2.4GHz wireless, and Bluetooth 5.3 LE. 8BitDo specifies polling rates of 250–8000Hz wired, 250–4000Hz over 2.4GHz, and a fixed 125Hz over Bluetooth.
#1 Best Overall
- Inspired by the Classics. A seamless match for your Retro Keyboard.
- Built with PAW 3395 Sensor.
- Charging dock as signal extension.
- Kailh Sword GM X Micro Switches - Engineered for up to 100 million clicks.
- Customizable control - Programmable buttons, left/right-hand mode switching, DPI adjustment with 6 levels, and polling rate adjustment via Ultimate Software V2.
Can you use it over Bluetooth?
Yes. Bluetooth is a documented connection mode, but it is the least configurable option. The official FAQ says Ultimate Software V2 configuration is unavailable over Bluetooth, and Bluetooth polling is fixed at 125Hz. Bluetooth connects to one device at a time; pairing again is required to use another device.
For software tuning or higher polling rates, use the 2.4GHz receiver or a wired USB-C connection. 8BitDo says those modes default to 500Hz and can be changed in Ultimate Software V2. It also warns that polling above 2000Hz can increase battery consumption and computational load.

- 3 connection modes - Bluetooth, 2.4G wireless, or wired USB-C for flexible connectivity.
- Built with PAW 3395 Sensor.
- Charging dock as signal extension.
- Kailh Sword GM X Micro Switches - Engineered for up to 100 million clicks.
How long does the battery last?
The 450mAh rechargeable battery is rated by 8BitDo for up to 100 hours over Bluetooth and 26–105 hours over 2.4GHz, depending on polling rate. These are manufacturer figures, not independently tested results. The supplied dock provides a dedicated place to charge the mouse between sessions.
What is the exact Amazon model name?
Search for 8BitDo Retro R8 Mouse N Edition and confirm the edition in the listing details. Amazon availability and regional pricing can change; check the current listing before buying. 8BitDo’s official shop listed the mouse at $49.99 when crawled in 2026, but it showed as sold out then, so that price and stock status should not be treated as current.

Should you buy the N Edition?
If the goal is a coordinated NES-style desk, the N Edition is the clearest match. Its modern hardware and wired, 2.4GHz, and Bluetooth options also make it a functional everyday mouse. The main trade-off is Bluetooth: it is convenient for basic wireless use, but its fixed 125Hz polling and lack of Ultimate Software V2 configuration make wired or 2.4GHz preferable when tuning matters.
