No—Bungie has not announced that the Dreaming City is being vaulted. In its June 9, 2026 Update 9.7.0 support guide, Bungie lists the Dreaming City as an available destination. That establishes its current availability, not a promise that it will remain in the game indefinitely.
Is the Dreaming City being vaulted?
There is no confirmed departure date or announcement that the Dreaming City is being removed. Bungie’s Update 9.7.0 support guide includes the Dreaming City in its list of available destinations and says content present before or added in that update would remain available on and after June 9, 2026.
That is the clearest official statement about its present status. It does not say how long the destination will remain available, so claims that it is definitely leaving—or guaranteed to stay forever—go beyond what Bungie has confirmed.
What the 2026 update means for Destiny 2
Bungie said planned live-service content updates would end with Update 9.7.0, released June 9, 2026. The support guide leaves open the possibility of hotfixes for game health and stability. The update’s launch announcement describes changes to navigation, destinations, patrols, activities, and rewards, but the support guide is the more direct source for the Dreaming City’s availability.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
A change in the planned update cadence does not itself announce that a destination is being removed. Bungie’s guide lists the Dreaming City as available after the update; it does not set a future sunset date for it.
What Bungie’s restoration announcement does—and does not—say
In The Next Chapter for Bungie, the studio said it had begun work to bring vaulted Destiny 2 campaigns, destinations, and raids back into the game. Bungie described the work as technically involved: older content needs updates to lighting, encounters, combatants, and other systems that have changed since Beyond Light.

The announcement does not name the Dreaming City as either a future vault target or a restoration target, and it gives no delivery schedule. The broad restoration effort therefore offers no evidence that the Dreaming City is about to leave.

The Destiny Content Vault (DCV) is Bungie’s system for cycling some destinations and activities out of Destiny 2, with the possibility that vaulted content may return. Bungie’s DCV help page says Destiny 2 expansions stopped being vaulted in August 2022, while seasonal content continues to move into the vault when a new expansion launches.

When Bungie outlined the vaulting transition associated with The Witch Queen, it said the Forsaken campaign and Tangled Shore would enter the vault while the Dreaming City would remain available. That was a decision about that specific transition, not an indefinite guarantee. Bungie’s original explanation of the DCV framed vaulting as a way to manage the game’s growing scale and complexity, and described selected destinations and activities—not a permanent exemption for any one destination.

How to judge future claims about the destination
- Look for a destination-specific Bungie announcement. A general statement about vaulting or restoration does not confirm a change to the Dreaming City.
- Check the date and scope. Bungie’s 2021 decision to keep the destination available applied to that transition; the June 2026 guide establishes availability after Update 9.7.0.
- Separate present status from future certainty. The official material confirms availability as of the June 2026 update, but does not establish an unlimited guarantee.
