Short answer: Switch 2 has newer graphics features and supports higher maximum TV output modes than the base PlayStation 4, but the published specifications do not establish a single overall performance winner. Nintendo has not published a Switch 2 TFLOPS figure, and no directly comparable benchmark here shows how both consoles run the same game under matching conditions.

Why TFLOPS do not settle the comparison
Sony publishes the base PS4 GPU at 1.84 TFLOPS. Nintendo’s cited official materials do not give a comparable Switch 2 figure, so there is no official pair of numbers from which to calculate a reliable multiplier. Even when two GPUs have published TFLOPS ratings, that number alone does not predict game performance across different architectures, power limits, memory systems, and software.
It would therefore be misleading to say Switch 2 is a certain number of times more powerful than PS4 based on an unsourced Switch 2 estimate. The two systems also serve different use cases: Switch 2 is a hybrid handheld and TV console, whereas the base PS4 is a home console. A TV-output maximum does not establish handheld performance.
What higher output and newer graphics features mean in practice
Nintendo’s stated 4K and 120-fps figures describe supported output modes. They do not guarantee that every game renders natively at 4K or runs at 120 frames per second; a game can render at a lower resolution, use image reconstruction or upscaling, or target a lower frame rate. Nintendo specifies that 4K output is capped at 60 fps.

NVIDIA’s identified RT Cores, Tensor Cores, and DLSS-related capabilities show that Switch 2 supports graphics techniques not described in Sony’s cited base-PS4 specifications. Whether those features improve a particular game depends on whether its developers implement them and how the game is configured. Feature support is evidence of capability, not a benchmark result.
Which console runs games better?
That depends on the game and the comparison being made. A fair answer for a specific title needs tests of the same game version and comparable graphics modes, with resolution and frame-rate behavior reported. The official specifications cited above do not provide a controlled same-game comparison between Switch 2 and the base PS4.

For an individual game, look for independent testing that identifies the version, mode, rendered or output resolution, and frame-rate behavior. Without those details, claims that one console runs that game better may compare different settings or versions rather than hardware performance.

Switch 2 is the newer platform, with NVIDIA graphics features and higher published maximum TV-output modes than the base PS4. Those specifications suggest broader modern graphics and output capabilities, but they do not prove that Switch 2 wins every performance comparison—or establish a numerical power advantage. For a specific game, only a like-for-like test can answer which version performs better.
