No official Pokémon GO joystick exists for iOS or Android. The “joystick” in many guides is a third-party GPS-spoofing tool that changes the location reported to the game. Niantic classifies falsifying location and using modified or unauthorized software as cheating, which can lead to a warning, suspension, or permanent account termination. There is no supported way to move your Trainer around the map without playing at that real-world location.
What does “Pokémon GO joystick” mean?
Usually, it means an on-screen control supplied by a third-party tool that simulates movement by falsifying the phone’s location. That is different from a physical Bluetooth or USB controller: a standard controller does not legitimately move a Pokémon GO Trainer on the map.
It is also different from Pokémon GO Plus +, an official accessory for supported game interactions. It does not change your location or act as a movement joystick. It requires Pokémon GO on a paired smartphone; it cannot run the game by itself (Pokémon Support: standalone use).
Is a joystick allowed by Pokémon GO?
No. Niantic’s Gameplay Fairness Policy identifies GPS spoofing, modified or unofficial software, emulators, and unauthorized third-party software or add-ons as violations. Its Terms-of-Service guidance likewise addresses unauthorized software and add-ons. Niantic directs players to use official game versions from supported app stores and says it does not support rooted or jailbroken devices (policy enforcement update).

Niantic describes a three-strike enforcement system for continued cheating: a warning, a temporary suspension, and then permanent account termination. Enforcement can include warnings, degraded gameplay, suspension, or termination, and Niantic says it may use automated systems and player reports (Player Guidelines). No third-party tool can credibly guarantee that an account will avoid enforcement; using one violates the rules even if it appears to work.
Why iOS and Android joystick guides differ
The operating systems have different location, security, installation, and device-management systems. Third-party spoofing tools may rely on modified software, computer-based location manipulation, developer features, sideloading, or device modification. Requirements can change with operating-system and Pokémon GO updates, so a method described for one device or version is not evidence that it is supported or safe on another.
This article does not provide setup, rooting, jailbreaking, sideloading, teleportation, cooldown, or evasion instructions. Those steps would help falsify location in a live-service game and can also expose devices and accounts to security risks.

Risks beyond losing access to the game
- Account enforcement: A warning, temporary suspension, degraded gameplay, or permanent termination may follow. A strike is not necessarily reversed by uninstalling a tool.
- Lost progress and purchases: Losing access can mean losing Pokémon, progress, event participation, paid items, and social connections tied to the account.
- Credential theft: Treat any tool asking for Pokémon GO, Google, Apple, or Pokémon Trainer Club credentials as a serious warning sign. A claim such as “undetectable,” “safe,” or “ban-proof” is marketing, not an official guarantee.
- Device and privacy risks: Unofficial downloads, configuration profiles, certificates, modified apps, and root or jailbreak components can create security and privacy exposure. Niantic’s policy applies to the conduct and software involved, not to how popular a tool is.

Pokémon GO Plus +
The official accessory can reduce the need to keep looking at or holding your phone while using supported Pokémon GO interactions. Pokémon Support lists compatibility as iOS 13 or later and Android 7.0 or later, while noting requirements may change (supported operating systems). It still requires a smartphone with Pokémon GO installed and does not provide movement or remote access.
For pairing or feature details, use the current in-game accessory controls and the official Pokémon Support pages. Accessory behavior can change as the app is updated.
Remote raids
Remote Raid Passes address raid participation, not general movement around the map. The official Pokémon GO Web Store displayed a bundle of two Remote Raid Passes for US$2.99 when checked on August 18, 2026. Price, availability, and event-specific rules may vary by date and region; check the live store and in-game details before buying.

Local play and accessibility
Daily Adventure Incense, Routes, nearby Stops and Gyms, and community events can offer ways to play without making long journeys. Their mechanics and benefits are live-service details, so consult current official game information. For example, an August 2026 announcement described a temporary 2× Daily Adventure Incense duration benefit tied to a GO Pass milestone; it was event-specific, not a permanent movement feature (August 2026 announcement).
If mobility, weather, or safety limits where you can play, consider asking a trusted friend or event organizer about accessible meetup locations and using remote raid features when available. Niantic also advises players to stay aware of hazards while playing (Player Guidelines). Do not play while driving, cycling in traffic, or crossing roads.
If you already installed a joystick or spoofer
- Stop using the tool. Removing it does not guarantee that any strike or enforcement action will be reversed.
- Remove modified Pokémon GO clients, unofficial add-ons, sideloaded packages, suspicious configuration profiles, or certificates associated with the tool.
- Install Pokémon GO only from the official Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or Samsung Galaxy Store. The U.S. App Store listing is one official iOS download page; store requirements can change.
- If you entered account credentials into an untrusted tool, change the affected password, enable multifactor authentication where available, and check for unauthorized account activity or purchases.
- If Niantic issued a strike or termination that you believe was an error, use its official appeal route described in the Terms-of-Service violation guidance. Do not assume uninstalling the software clears an account action.
How to judge products advertised as a “Pokémon GO joystick”
Do not treat the word “joystick” in a listing as proof that a product is an official accessory. Check what it actually controls: a conventional game controller does not move a Pokémon GO Trainer, while software or hardware that changes the reported location falls into GPS spoofing rather than supported movement. Be wary of requests for game-account credentials and claims of guaranteed safety. Pokémon GO Plus + is the relevant official accessory for supported interactions, but it is not a joystick.

Can I use a PS5, Xbox, or Bluetooth controller as a Pokémon GO joystick?
A standard controller does not legitimately move your Pokémon GO Trainer around the map. A product that changes reported location is a GPS-spoofing tool, not an official controller feature.

Will a joystick always get me banned?
No outcome can be guaranteed for every account, but using a GPS-spoofing joystick violates Niantic’s rules and carries an enforcement risk.
Can I use a joystick just for accessibility?
Niantic’s cited policy does not provide an accessibility exception for falsifying location. Consider accessible local play, official remote features where available, and event planning instead.
Can I play Pokémon GO remotely?
Some activities, including eligible remote raids, have official remote features. They do not provide unrestricted movement around the map.
Does Pokémon GO Plus + work on iPhone and Android, and do I need a phone?
Pokémon Support lists iOS 13+ and Android 7.0+ compatibility, subject to change. A smartphone with Pokémon GO installed is required; the accessory cannot play the game by itself.
