Was Ja’Kyrian Turner playing against Virginia Tech?
Yes. Turner appeared in Pitt’s game at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg on October 2. Pitt’s official live coverage recorded his 20-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter, capping a 65-yard drive.
Why was Turner considered a game-time decision?
Turner had not played since Pitt’s season opener. On game day, Pitt’s coverage listed him among the game-time decisions, while RotoWire reported an undisclosed injury and said his availability would be determined at kickoff. RotoWire had described him as probable in an earlier Wednesday update; that was not confirmation that he would play.
The available reports did not name a diagnosis or body part, so the reason for his absence beyond the undisclosed injury was not established.

Who handled the lead role while Turner was out?
Pitt’s pregame report said Damon Ferguson Jr. had taken the lead role during Turner’s absence. The report listed Ferguson at 59.8 rushing yards per game entering the Virginia Tech matchup; that was a pregame figure, not a full-season total.
What was the final result?
Pitt beat Virginia Tech 35–33. Turner scored a rushing touchdown, and La’Vell Wright and Ferguson also scored for Pitt, according to the Pitt game recap. Virginia Tech’s recap confirmed the score and reported that a 36-yard field-goal attempt was missed as time expired.

The cited postgame recap confirms Turner’s touchdown but does not provide his full carry and rushing-yard totals. The reports establish that he played, not the extent of his workload or the details of his medical clearance.
