Jordan Addison is Minnesota’s clear second fantasy option among its leading wide receivers in the available 2026 snapshot, behind Justin Jefferson and ahead of Jauan Jennings. Jefferson is the stronger volume play: the Vikings’ captured statistics show him with more catches, yards, and touchdowns, while preseason projections also give him substantially more opportunity. Addison remains a relevant starter, but his value depends on league scoring and current weekly conditions.
How the Vikings’ top receivers compare
Minnesota’s unofficial depth chart dated Sept. 9, 2026, lists Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and Jauan Jennings as starters. A starting designation establishes their listed roles, not a guaranteed weekly snap share or target total. The chart names Kyler Murray as the starting quarterback, with Carson Wentz and J.J. McCarthy behind him. Vikings unofficial depth chart
The team’s live statistics are a snapshot rather than season-end totals. In the figures captured for this comparison, Jefferson leads the three in all listed receiving categories; Addison is second, while Jennings’ one-catch sample is too small to establish his likely production.
| Receiver | 2026 receptions | Receiving yards | Receiving touchdowns |
|---|---|---|---|
| Justin Jefferson | 13 | 179 | 2 |
| Jordan Addison | 7 | 111 | 1 |
| Jauan Jennings | 1 | 1 | 0 |

What the 2026 projections say about opportunity
ESPN analyst Mike Clay’s preseason 2026 projections put Jefferson well ahead of Addison and Jennings in expected targets and production. They are one analyst’s forecasts, not observed results or a consensus ranking.
| Receiver | Projected targets | Projected receptions | Projected receiving yards | Projected receiving touchdowns |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Justin Jefferson | 165 | 111 | 1,370 | 7 |
| Jordan Addison | 99 | 61 | 767 | 5 |
| Jauan Jennings | 71 | 47 | 484 | 3 |
Those projections support a practical distinction: Jefferson is the safer choice when prioritizing expected volume, while Addison is the next Vikings receiver to consider. Jennings is also listed as a starter, but his preseason projection is lower than Addison’s. ESPN / Mike Clay 2026 projections

Who should you start or draft?
Choose Jefferson when you want the stronger Vikings option
The evidence favors Jefferson over Addison for a lineup decision: he led the captured team totals in catches, yards, and scores, and Clay projected him for 165 targets compared with Addison’s 99. That makes Jefferson the preferred choice between the two in ordinary redraft lineup decisions, unless current injury, availability, or matchup information changes the situation.
Consider Addison as a starter, not a Jefferson equivalent
Addison’s seven catches, 111 yards, and touchdown show early contribution, and both the depth chart and Clay’s projection place him in a meaningful role. The available evidence does not make him equal to Jefferson as a volume bet. His relative appeal rises in lineups that need another receiver and in formats where a touchdown can materially affect a week.

Do not overreact to Jennings’ small early total
Jennings has one catch for one yard in the captured statistics, but that is a very small early-season sample. It is not enough to declare his listed starting role unimportant or to forecast his future output. Clay’s preseason projection places him behind Addison, but weekly lineup decisions should use current usage and availability rather than infer a firm ranking from one catch.
Scoring format and league type change the comparison
- PPR: Receptions add direct scoring value, so projected catch volume is especially relevant. Clay’s projection gives Jefferson a substantial reception advantage over Addison.
- Half-PPR and standard scoring: Receptions are worth less or nothing, respectively, so yards and touchdowns take relatively greater weight. A touchdown-heavy week can narrow the gap, but the available projection still favors Jefferson overall.
- Redraft versus dynasty: A redraft decision concerns this season’s expected production. Dynasty rankings also account for longer-term value, so they should not be treated as a weekly start/sit ranking.
A dated ESPN dynasty cheat sheet updated Sept. 8, 2026, ranks Jefferson WR6 and Addison WR39 in a 10-team, one-point-per-reception setup. Those figures describe that dynasty list—not current redraft consensus or average draft position. ESPN / Mike Clay 2026 dynasty cheat sheet

How role and depth affect the outlook
Minnesota’s initial 2026 roster article listed six receivers: Jefferson, Addison, Jennings, Tai Felton, Myles Price, and Dillon Bell, and noted that the roster was fluid. The presence of additional receivers matters as context, but a roster listing alone does not establish a target share or weekly rotation. Vikings initial roster breakdown
In June, head coach Kevin O’Connell said, “I think it’s really set up well right now with those three guys, adding a veteran player like Jauan to the mix to solidify the room as a whole.” He also praised Felton’s speed and explosiveness and Price’s development. Those offseason comments provide context for the group, not a guarantee of later usage. Vikings report on O’Connell’s June comments
Quick Recap
What to verify before a weekly lineup call
- Check current injury and availability reports; the depth chart and statistical snapshot do not establish present health.
- Recheck the latest Vikings depth chart and receiving statistics, since the chart is unofficial and the stats page updates dynamically.
- Account for quarterback changes: the Sept. 9 chart lists Murray ahead of Wentz and McCarthy, but later changes could affect target quality.
- Use projections as estimates rather than guarantees, and compare players under your league’s scoring rules.
