If Kim Kardashian: Hollywood stopped working on your iPhone 12 Pro Max, the present-day cause is the game’s shutdown—not a phone setting or a fixable compatibility issue. Electronic Arts and Glu Mobile ended access for all players after April 8, 2024. Restarting or updating your iPhone cannot bring the game’s service back.
Why Kim Kardashian: Hollywood no longer works
Electronic Arts / Glu Mobile announced that in-app purchases would end on January 3, 2024, and that the game would be removed from app stores beginning that day. Installed copies remained playable only until April 8, 2024. The publisher’s sunset notice states: “After April 8, 2024, the game will become inaccessible for all players.” Read the publisher’s sunset notice.
The shutdown applies to all players, so the iPhone 12 Pro Max is not established as the cause of a current failure. The game also depended on a steady connection to its servers, according to the EA/Glu troubleshooting center; with access ended, a connection or loading error cannot be solved by changing a phone setting.
Could an update have caused the original problem?
A historical Reddit search result summarizes a Glu forum moderator’s note about an iPhone 12 Pro Max issue with game update 11.11.1 and says the team was working on a fix. This is secondary, anecdotal evidence: it does not establish what caused a particular player’s problem, whether the issue was resolved, or a current fix. See the historical community report.

For a historical diagnosis, the useful details would be the game update and iOS versions, the exact symptom—such as a crash, loading stall, or server error—and whether it happened before or after April 8, 2024. Those details are not available here, so the update report should not be treated as a diagnosis of your phone.
What to do—and what not to do
Apple’s standard advice for an app that stops responding includes force-closing and reopening it, restarting the iPhone, and checking for app and iOS updates. Apple’s app troubleshooting steps can help with ordinary app problems, but they cannot restore a discontinued game service.

- Do not delete the game as a recovery step. Apple warns that deleting an app can remove locally stored data, and the publisher says the game is no longer available to download from app stores.
- Do not replace or repair the iPhone for this issue. The shutdown is not limited to the iPhone 12 Pro Max, and no device repair can restore access to the game.
