Kingdom Hearts Final Mix world order: the story route
Use this as a progression framework, not a claim that every optional object must be collected on its first appearance. The route includes revisits, and some exploration becomes practical only after Sora gains new abilities or story items. The available guide structure separates individual world walkthroughs, including Hundred Acre Wood and the final world; exact encounter details and requirements can vary by version, so consult the in-game objectives and map when a step does not match your edition.

1. Destiny Islands
Begin with Sora’s introductory island sequence and the early character interactions. Complete the opening objectives and prepare for the story’s transition: darkness overtakes the islands, and Sora is separated from his home.
2. Traverse Town
Sora awakens in Traverse Town, the recurring hub. Learn the town’s routes and services as the story directs you, then follow the next world lead. You will return here as the plot advances and after gaining new spells, Trinity abilities, summons, or story items; those later visits can open interactions or optional exploration that was unavailable earlier.
3. Wonderland and Olympus Coliseum
Follow the available story leads into Wonderland and Olympus Coliseum. Complete each world’s required objectives and boss encounters before moving on. Olympus Coliseum also supports optional challenge content, so distinguish story progression from extra trials rather than treating every arena activity as mandatory.
4. Deep Jungle
Advance through Deep Jungle’s story objectives and resolve the world’s required conflict. When the game points you onward, return to Traverse Town to continue the central plot and unlock further travel.

5. Agrabah and Monstro
Complete Agrabah’s required objectives and boss encounter, then proceed to Monstro when it becomes available. Monstro’s interior is easy to navigate imperfectly on a first pass; prioritize the story route and return to side rooms or missed chests later if a new ability makes exploration easier.
6. Halloween Town and Atlantica
Work through each world’s story objectives and boss encounter. Atlantica changes the movement and combat feel compared with land-based worlds; follow the on-screen objective markers and revisit its areas if you need to finish exploration after the story opens further travel.
7. Neverland and Hollow Bastion
Clear Neverland’s story progression, then continue to Hollow Bastion. Hollow Bastion is a major turning point: complete its required exploration and story battles, and pay attention to newly available destinations or revisits afterward. If an earlier world still has unexplored doors, Trinity marks, or chests, this is a sensible point to revisit rather than delaying the main route for completion.
8. Revisit worlds as the story advances
World travel is part of the game’s progression, not a one-way sequence. The manual documents travel between worlds and room criteria associated with synthesis, while Traverse Town serves as a recurring hub. When a new spell, Trinity ability, summon, or story item arrives, check earlier areas for newly accessible paths, interactions, and cleanup opportunities.

9. Hundred Acre Wood and the final world
Hundred Acre Wood is a distinct optional story-and-collection branch tied to pages found during exploration. It is not a substitute for the main world route. When ready, complete the final world’s required sequence and encounters to reach the ending. Keep any remaining collectible, synthesis, journal, or challenge goals for post-story cleanup if they are not blocking progression.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to do when you are unsure where to go next
- Check the current world objective. Look for the next story interaction, route, or encounter rather than assuming a collectible is required.
- Recheck Traverse Town. If the story appears stalled after a major world, return to the hub and inspect its accessible areas and character interactions.
- Look for a new travel lead. Use the world map and available routes to identify destinations the story has opened.
- Return with new abilities. A previously blocked path may require a spell, Trinity ability, summon, or story item acquired later.
- Separate blockers from optional tasks. A missed chest, journal entry, or challenge is not automatically a story requirement; pursue it when its relevant access or ability is available.
Optional completion checklist
Story completion and full completion are different goals. Completion guides commonly treat the main world route, Jiminy’s Journal, synthesis, Gummi Ship content, and achievements as separate dimensions. Work through the following after or between story milestones; check the requirements for your platform and version before relying on a particular checklist.
- Treasures: Revisit rooms for chests and paths that were inaccessible earlier.
- Dalmatians: Track the collectible puppies across worlds and turn in sets when the game permits.
- Trinity marks: Revisit marked spots after learning the relevant Trinity ability.
- Hundred Acre Wood pages: Find pages during world exploration, then return to the book to progress its activities.
- Synthesis: Gather materials and use the Moogle workshops; room criteria and recipes are system-specific, so use the in-game lists to see what remains.
- Jiminy’s Journal: Review story, character, enemy, and other entry categories to identify gaps.
- Gummi Ship content: Treat routes, missions, and related goals as a separate optional track from world story progression.
- Optional encounters and challenges: Return for arena trials and other nonessential fights when your abilities and equipment are ready.
- Achievements or trophies: Check the achievement list for your platform; completion requirements are not identical to simply finishing the story.
How to complete the journal without disrupting the story route
Jiminy’s Journal is a completion tracker, not a command to stop after every world until every entry is filled. Check it at natural pauses to see which categories remain incomplete, then group related tasks by location: collectibles and Trinity marks during revisits, enemy or character entries when returning to relevant areas, and synthesis or Gummi Ship goals as their own sessions. If an entry appears missing, confirm that its trigger is available in your version before assuming it was permanently missed.
