Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World launched on August 28, 2025, bringing the 2022 platformer to Switch 2 with improved graphics and frame rate, plus a new story expansion. Star-Crossed World is additional content for the game—not a standalone sequel—and its new features require a Nintendo Switch 2.
What does Star-Crossed World add?
The new story begins after a powerful meteor strikes the world. Kirby sets out through uncharted territory, using his abilities and all-new Mouthful Modes along the way. Nintendo describes the Switch 2 edition as adding this meteor mystery and story content to the original adventure; its product listing does not provide a playtime, stage count, or other measure of the expansion’s length.
The edition also retains the original game’s core platforming features, including enemy-copy abilities such as Drill and Ranger, evolutions for copy abilities, and Mouthful Mode transformations. Local co-op lets a second player control Bandana Waddle Dee. Nintendo’s product listing describes the upgraded adventure as having enhanced resolution and frame rates.
Is this a Switch 2 DLC or a separate game?
Star-Crossed World is part of Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World, not a standalone game. If you already own the original Kirby and the Forgotten Land, you can buy the upgrade pack separately. If you do not own the original, choose the full Switch 2 Edition: Nintendo lists the original game as required for the upgrade pack.

When did the Switch 2 edition release?
Nintendo announced the edition during its April 2, 2025 Nintendo Direct and released it on August 28, 2025. Nintendo’s US product listing gives a file size of 10.8 GB; file size can change, so check the listing when planning storage.

What to check if the new features do not appear
If you own the upgrade pack but cannot access its features, Nintendo recommends checking that the purchasing user is selected, the pack is purchased and available on the Switch 2 system, and both the system and game are updated. Confirm the pack’s purchase status as well. The Switch 2 requirement still applies.
