Kraft Heinz is making protein and fiber more visible in its product strategy as it tries to accelerate innovation. The company points to Kraft Mac & Cheese PowerMac as a nutrition-focused launch and to Kraft Mac & Cheese Cheesy Ramen as a move into another convenience-food category. Reported investment and reformulation figures show the scale of the push, but do not establish consumer acceptance or health benefits.
Protein and fiber are part of a broader innovation push
In an October 6, 2026 report, Reuters, republished by Investing.com, described Kraft Heinz as emphasizing protein and fiber while broadening its product range. The company has framed innovation around three consumer-driven platforms: nutrition, convenience, and new occasions, according to its Q4 2025 prepared management remarks.
Kraft Heinz North America president Nico Amaya acknowledged the company’s past pace, telling Reuters: “Quite frankly, we haven’t innovated at pace.” He also said, “Better-for-you in many aspects is here to stay,” and, “And protein will become just part of what everyone does.” Those comments explain the company’s strategic rationale; they are executive views, not independent evidence of demand or health outcomes.
PowerMac is the company’s nutrition example
Kraft Heinz’s prepared remarks identify Kraft Mac & Cheese PowerMac as a launch within its nutrition platform. The company says the product contains 17 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber per serving. Those are company-reported product figures; the available sources do not provide an independent nutrition analysis or a like-for-like comparison with competing products.

Reuters also reported that Kraft Heinz is bringing out smaller-portion PowerMac cups. The report did not specify their price, serving-level nutrition figures, or current availability.
Cheesy Ramen takes the brand into another category
Kraft Heinz introduced Kraft Mac & Cheese Cheesy Ramen in the United States on October 6, 2026, after launching it in Canada, Reuters reported. The launch extends the brand into ramen, a convenience-food category beyond its traditional macaroni-and-cheese format.

Amaya put the North American ramen market at $2.7 billion, according to Reuters. That figure is his estimate as reported by the outlet; it is not independently verified in the available sources. Amaya described the expansion as “leaning more into really playing in different areas, disrupting some of the categories,”.

Reuters reported that Kraft Heinz earmarked $700 million for marketing and research and development in 2026. It also said the company reported that spending behind brands such as PowerMac was up 35% in 2026, and that more than 1,000 recipes had been reformulated to add protein and fiber while offering less added sugar and fat. These are company figures relayed by Reuters, not independently audited findings in the available sources.

CEO Steve Cahillane told Reuters that he expected the innovation pipeline to accelerate in 2027. Taken together, the spending, reformulation, and launches show a stated effort to build innovation across product lines; they do not, on their own, demonstrate that consumers will buy the products or that the changes produce health benefits.
