The game is Kuku Kube, a quick visual puzzle built around one task: find the square whose color is slightly different from the rest. The 2015 browser version was free, but its original link is no longer reliably verifiable; current Kuku Kube-branded mobile apps are separate listings, not confirmed copies of that exact game.
How Kuku Kube works
A grid of nearly identical colored squares appears. One tile is a subtly different shade; click or tap it to move on. Correct answers bring a larger grid, making the odd tile harder to spot while the player tries to build a high score.

In its July 2015 description, BGR’s Kuku Kube article describes a 60-second round and grids growing from 4 tiles to 9, 16, 25 and onward. Those are the rules reported for that browser version, not a guarantee about current apps.
Why the puzzle gets difficult
- More tiles: Larger grids make it harder to compare every square quickly.
- Subtle shades: The difference between the odd tile and the others can become difficult to pick out.
- Time pressure: In the original format, players had to make those comparisons against a 60-second clock.
- Viewing conditions: Screen brightness, display settings, glare, ambient light and fatigue can all affect how colors appear.
The current Android listing describes increasing difficulty and offers Classic and Pro modes, but current versions do not necessarily share the browser game’s scoring or round structure.
#1 Best Overall
- Simple and easy to use UI.
- High Quality graphics.
Can you still play the original browser game?
BGR presented Kuku Kube as a free browser game in 2015. Its old “Play Kuku Kube” destination is now a legacy numeric/IP-style link, and the original article’s embedded Google Play link no longer works. There is no reliably verified current official browser destination to recommend, so avoid treating that old link as a dependable way to play.
Current mobile listings offer Kuku Kube-branded versions, but the relationship between those apps and the 2015 browser game is not established. For a safer starting point than an unfamiliar clone or download site, use an official store listing:

- 5) No Negative Marking for wrong answer
- Kuku Kube – Eye Test on Google Play is listed as containing ads and advertises Classic and Pro modes. Its description says the game ends after three mistakes, while user feedback also describes sessions ending after a timer; check the in-game instructions because rules may depend on mode or version.
- Kuku Kube – Color Test on Apple’s U.S. App Store is free to download with in-app purchases. The listing shows a $1.99 Remove Ads purchase and Game Center support.
These are current app listings, not verified releases of the original browser build. Their scores and rules should not be compared directly with the 2015 version. Store availability and details can also vary by region.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Kuku Kube is not an eyesight test
The puzzle may feel like a test, and current store descriptions use phrases such as “color vision” or “color test.” Those are app descriptions, not evidence that the game can diagnose a vision problem or color-vision deficiency. A missed tile does not show that you need glasses, and a high score does not establish normal eyesight.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesRank #3
- - Perfect color combinations
- - Great graphics and easy to use
- - On-line leader-board integrated
- - Black background to save battery
Performance can reflect the game’s difficulty, the screen and lighting, tiredness, attention, or differences in color perception. If you have concerns about your vision, rely on an optometrist’s examination rather than a game score. Kuku Kube is entertainment, not a substitute for an eye exam or validated screening tool.

- Take a break if repeated rounds are causing eye strain or fatigue.
