Keep up to three if you are preparing for the Expedition 5 requirement; otherwise extract it and sell it. It is not a documented quest hand-in, recipe ingredient, or usable music item, and it cannot be recycled.
Where Lance’s Mixtape spawns
The item’s current loot record places Lance’s Mixtape in the Residential and Commercial categories. Search normal containers and interiors in those areas rather than looking for a guaranteed named-room spawn. Available records do not provide a dependable spawn percentage or a single location that always contains one.
Useful route examples
A Japanese guide published examples at the Research Administration Center and Test Annex on Dam Battlegrounds, and at Space Travel, Library, Piazza Albst, and Grandioso Apartments in Buried City. Treat these as route suggestions only: they are not guarantees and do not replace the current Residential/Commercial loot classification.

What should you do with it?
Keep three for Expedition 5 preparation
The current loot table lists Expedition 5 (3×) for Lance’s Mixtape. Reserve three copies if you are deliberately stockpiling for that caravan requirement.
#1 Best Overall
- TRIFORCE TITANIUM 50 MM DRIVERS — Our cutting-edge proprietary design divides the driver into 3 parts for the individual tuning of highs, mids, and lows—producing brighter, clearer audio with richer highs and more powerful lows
- HYPERCLEAR CARDIOID MIC — An improved pickup pattern ensures more voice and less noise as it tapers off towards the mic’s back and sides, with the sweet spot easily placed at the mouth because of the mic’s bendable design
- ADVANCED PASSIVE NOISE CANCELLATION — Sturdy closed earcups fully cover the ears to prevent noise from leaking into the headset, with its cushions providing a closer seal for more sound isolation
- LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN WITH MEMORY FOAM EAR CUSHIONS — At just 240 g, the headset features thicker headband padding and memory foam ear cushions with leatherette to keep gaming in peak form during grueling tournaments and training sessions
- WORKS WITH WINDOWS SONIC — Make the most of the headset’s powerful drivers by pairing it with lifelike surround sound that places audio with pinpoint accuracy, heightening in-game awareness and immersion
Sell extras when you are not preparing
If Expedition preparation is not part of your plan, extract the item and sell it for its listed 10,000-coin value. Because the stack limit is three, a full stack represents 30,000 coins before any game-specific transaction effects.
Do not take it to a recycler
The current loot table marks Lance’s Mixtape as non-recyclable, so a recycler is not an alternative way to obtain materials from it.

Is there a mixtape quest or audio feature?
Current records support world-loot acquisition, stash storage, sale, and Expedition contribution. They do not document an active quest hand-in, a crafting recipe, or an in-game function for listening to the tape. An Embark developer has described Lance’s mixtape as one of the “big-ticket trinkets” players pursue, including trinkets used for other purposes, but that statement does not establish a separate audio mechanic.
How the Expedition pause changes the decision
The Expedition feature is currently described as “temporarily paused” for rework. Expedition 5 was the last Expedition before the pause, with a return targeted for early 2027. That means the three-copy figure is a current database requirement for Expedition 5, not a project you can start right now, and the requirement could change when the reworked system returns.

Why older guides may say to sell it
An AllThings. How guide updated November 15, 2025 described the mixtape as having no documented quest or recipe use and presented it as a high-value sell item. A current loot-table entry crawled October 1, 2026 adds the three-copy Expedition 5 requirement. For present-day decisions, use the newer loot data while treating the paused Expedition system as subject to change.
