Start with 720p at 30 fps, measure upload speed where you will actually stream, and set Larix’s bitrate below the upload rate your connection can sustain consistently. A “4G” indicator does not tell you whether the uplink is fast or stable enough for a particular bitrate. YouTube recommends 8 Mbps for H.264 at 720p30, but that is an encoder recommendation—not a guarantee of Jio 4G performance. If the stream still lags, lower bitrate first, then resolution or frame rate, and test again.
Start with settings your connection can sustain
Use these as starting points, then adjust based on tests at your broadcast location. YouTube’s figures are recommended H.264 encoder bitrates, not minimums that every mobile connection can sustain. There is no single bitrate established as correct for all Jio 4G locations, devices, or times.
| Setting | Starting point | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution and frame rate | 720p30 | A practical starting point for troubleshooting; lower resolution or frame rate if the uplink or device cannot keep up. |
| Video bitrate | Below the upload rate you can sustain consistently | YouTube recommends 8 Mbps for H.264 at 720p30. Treat that as an encoder reference, not a Jio-specific target or a guarantee of smooth streaming. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube recommends two seconds and says not to exceed four seconds. |
| Rate control | CBR | YouTube’s encoder guidance lists constant bitrate (CBR). |
| Audio | AAC or MP3 | Both are listed by YouTube as supported audio codecs. |
| Protocol | RTMPS when available | YouTube recommends RTMPS, which encrypts data through its servers. Larix controls available to you depend on platform and device. |
YouTube’s H.264 recommendations also list 8 Mbps for 720p60 and 14 Mbps for 1080p30. Those are encoder recommendations, not evidence that a given Jio connection can sustain those rates. If you are troubleshooting lag, first establish a stable 30 fps baseline rather than raising quality based on the carrier label.
Measure the Jio upload connection at the stream location
Mobile upload performance can vary by location and time. Test the connection at the place and under conditions you expect to broadcast, and repeat the test rather than relying on one result. Choose a bitrate with room below the upload rate you can sustain; setting the encoder at the best speed from a single test leaves little margin for fluctuations.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Note your phone or tablet model, operating system, Larix version, selected resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate. Larix uses system encoders, so behavior can vary by device and operating system.
- Run repeated upload tests where you plan to stream and, if possible, at a time resembling your planned broadcast. Record the results so you can compare them with later tests.
- Begin at 720p30 and set a bitrate below the rate that the connection sustains consistently. If the connection varies, start lower rather than targeting YouTube’s 8 Mbps H.264 recommendation for 720p30.
- Rehearse the actual kind of stream you intend to send, including representative movement and audio. YouTube advises testing with audio and movement similar to the live stream.
Jio’s published video-resolution data estimates concern data consumed while viewing video. They are not measurements of 4G upload speed and should not be used to choose a live-stream bitrate.
Configure Larix and test adaptive bitrate
In Larix, set the stream’s resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and keyframe interval using the controls available in your app version and on your device. The exact menu labels and available options can differ across platforms, so use Larix’s current in-app controls rather than assuming every device exposes the same settings.

Use adaptive bitrate if the uplink fluctuates
Larix documents adaptive bitrate modes including logarithmic descent, ladder ascend, and hybrid. Availability and behavior vary by protocol and platform. If the network is expected to be poor or change during the broadcast, enable an available adaptive mode and check how it behaves during a private or unlisted rehearsal before relying on it for a public event.
A configured bitrate is a target, not necessarily the bitrate the encoder can maintain. Softvelum notes that worsening network conditions can cause frame loss for RTMP/RTSP. Its FAQ also notes that Android devices may enforce a quality floor under VBR, so entering a very low bitrate may not always result in that exact bitrate.

Keep keyframes at two seconds
Set a two-second keyframe interval when Larix exposes the control. YouTube recommends two seconds and sets four seconds as the maximum. An interval longer than that can trigger a stream-configuration warning.
Check YouTube stream health during a rehearsal
Use YouTube’s stream health diagnostics alongside what you see and hear in the playback. The Live Streaming API documentation describes stream status and health diagnostics; YouTube’s reported issues can include bitrate that is too low or too high, high frame rate, and a keyframe interval that is too long. A viewer-facing lag symptom and a configuration warning are related clues, but check both rather than assuming one identifies the cause.

- Start a private or unlisted test stream if your setup allows it.
- Include the same kind of movement and audio as the planned broadcast.
- Watch playback for buffering, freezes, or audio problems, and inspect YouTube’s stream health messages.
- If the stream lags, lower the bitrate and repeat the same test. If the problem continues, reduce resolution or frame rate, changing one variable at a time.
Changing one setting at a time is a practical way to identify which adjustment helps; it is not a published controlled test result.

| Symptom | Likely area to check | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| Video freezes or drops frames as the connection changes | Unstable or insufficient uplink; the configured bitrate may be too demanding. | Lower bitrate, enable an available Larix adaptive bitrate mode, and repeat a representative test at the stream location. |
| Stream health reports bitrate too low | The sent bitrate is below YouTube’s guidance for the selected format, or the configuration needs review. | Check the selected resolution, frame rate, and bitrate. Raise bitrate only if repeated upload tests show the connection can sustain the increase. |
| Stream health reports bitrate too high | The selected bitrate may exceed what the connection can deliver reliably. | Lower bitrate and test again; do not use the best result from a single upload test as your sustained rate. |
| Stream health reports high frame rate | The actual encoder output may not match the intended frame rate. | Check Larix’s selected frame rate and device behavior. Larix uses system encoders, and frame-rate controls may act as recommendations rather than exact guarantees. |
| Stream health reports a long keyframe interval | Keyframes are farther apart than YouTube recommends. | Set the interval to two seconds, and keep it at or below four seconds. |
| Entering a low bitrate does not appear to reduce quality or data rate as expected | The device encoder may not honor the target exactly; Android VBR can enforce a quality floor. | Check actual stream behavior and YouTube diagnostics. Test a lower resolution or frame rate instead of assuming the entered bitrate is being applied exactly. |
