If your Larix Broadcaster stream looks rotated or sideways on YouTube, compare the Larix preview with YouTube’s encoder preview. If both are wrong, correct Larix’s orientation and rotation behavior, then send a short test stream before broadcasting. If Larix looks right but YouTube’s preview does not, check the encoder setup; if YouTube’s preview is right but one viewer sees a problem, compare playback on another device.
First, find where the rotation appears
- If you are live, stop or pause before changing orientation settings. Do not assume a midstream change will repair video already sent or an archived segment.
- Check the video in Larix Broadcaster’s local preview. Note whether it is portrait (vertical), landscape (horizontal), or sideways.
- Send a short test to YouTube and compare Larix’s preview with the encoder preview in YouTube Live Control Room. This comparison helps identify where the problem first appears; it is a diagnostic approach, not a dedicated YouTube rotation-fault tool.
Larix supports portrait and landscape output with live rotation. Softvelum describes the feature as “Landscape and portrait orientation with live rotation support.” Softvelum’s Larix Broadcaster product documentation
Choose the orientation and rotation behavior
Decide whether the stream should be vertical or horizontal before changing settings. The relevant controls are in Larix’s video/orientation settings, but the exact route and labels can vary by app version and operating system. Softvelum’s documentation defines the controls; it does not establish one universal tap-by-tap path for every Android and iOS release.
| Setting or choice | Use it when | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Portrait | Your intended video is vertical. | The stream is vertical; confirm the result in YouTube’s preview. |
| Landscape | Your intended video is horizontal. | The stream is horizontal; confirm the result in YouTube’s preview. |
| Follow screen rotation | You intend to change orientation while live. | Rotating the device can change the stream’s orientation. |
| Lock while broadcasting | The output must stay in one orientation as the device moves. | Live reorientation is constrained until you change the lock or end the broadcast. |
Softvelum’s Grove configuration reference names the live-rotation values as off, follow, and lock. It also says that an omitted encoder orientation value uses the value currently defined in Larix’s Video and Audio settings. These are configuration details, not steps most users need to enter manually. Softvelum Grove configuration reference

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If Larix’s preview is already sideways
Start with Larix’s video/orientation controls and your device’s orientation behavior. Set portrait or landscape as intended, then use a fixed or locked behavior if the phone must not change the stream orientation while moving. App menus differ, so look for the orientation and live-rotation controls rather than relying on a single menu path.
If Larix’s preview looks right
Send a short test and inspect YouTube’s incoming encoder preview. YouTube says it detects encoder settings and transcodes streams for viewers. If YouTube’s preview is rotated too, continue checking the app and encoder configuration. YouTube recommends testing an encoder setup before going live and monitoring stream health. If only one viewer sees a sideways picture
Compare playback on another device before concluding that the broadcast itself is wrong. If YouTube’s encoder preview is correct, the issue may be limited to that viewer’s playback; the sources do not establish a particular YouTube player rotation-lock setting as the cause.

The Larix Android listing says the app supports portrait and landscape rotation and was updated on 2026-08-11. Softvelum also links an Android tutorial on image and stream rotation. That listing date is not a statistic, and neither source establishes identical controls across all app versions. Larix Broadcaster on Google Play · Softvelum Larix Broadcaster
Common problems and fixes
- The phone turns and the stream changes orientation: Choose lock/fixed behavior if the output must stay in one format. Use follow-rotation only when you intend to change orientation live.
- The Larix preview is already rotated: Correct the app’s orientation setting and check the device’s orientation behavior before sending another test.
- Larix looks correct but YouTube’s preview does not: Recheck the encoder/app configuration and test again before going live.
- YouTube’s preview looks correct but one playback device does not: Compare the stream on a second device to isolate whether the issue is limited to playback.
- You are considering a mount or accessory: A mount may help hold the phone physically, but it is not a documented fix for an incorrect encoded-orientation setting.
