Neither Larix Broadcaster nor Larix Screencaster is documented as a player for prerecorded video files. Broadcaster is for live camera capture; Screencaster sends a live device screen. If you want a video file to play as a YouTube livestream, use a file-playout and live-encoding workflow instead. YouTube Help names Gyre for continuous prerecorded-video streams and also lists OBS as live-streaming software.
Which Larix app fits your source?
| What you want to stream | Best-documented fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Live footage from a phone camera | Larix Broadcaster | Softvelum and the Google Play listing describe it as a mobile live-capture and streaming app, with YouTube Live among its destinations. Softvelum documentation; Google Play listing |
| A live phone or tablet screen, gameplay, or app demo | Larix Screencaster | The app listings describe screen capture and identify YouTube Live as a destination. Apple App Store; Google Play listing |
| An existing video file played as a scheduled YouTube live event | Neither is established for this job | The reviewed Larix descriptions cover live camera or screen capture, not selecting a stored file as a playout source. A scheduled event does not itself supply the video feed. |
The practical distinction is the source being encoded: Broadcaster captures a camera; Screencaster captures a screen. Both send a live signal. This is a conclusion about what the reviewed documentation establishes, not proof that no technical workaround exists.
Why scheduling a YouTube event is not file playback
YouTube’s encoder workflow separates event scheduling from producing the stream. You schedule the event in Live Control Room, then an encoder sends video and audio to YouTube using the server URL and stream key. For a scheduled event, connect and start the encoder at the scheduled time, wait for the preview, then select Go live. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. These are YouTube’s general encoder steps; they do not turn a Larix capture app into a file player. See YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
Choose a workflow for prerecorded video
For continuous playback from the cloud
- StreamNeo is the first option to consider: it keeps uploaded videos playing as a YouTube livestream from the cloud, at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with the first day free. See StreamNeo.
- Upload a recording or build a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key once and go live; the cloud service loops the video without needing your computer or home connection to stay on.
YouTube Help also lists Gyre for continuous prerecorded-video streams. Check the provider’s current supported formats and operating terms before choosing it; YouTube’s mention is not a statement about those details. YouTube Help lists OBS as recording and live-streaming software, but that page alone does not establish a complete local-file playlist procedure.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For live phone capture instead
- Choose Broadcaster when the source is a live camera scene, or Screencaster when the source is a live device screen.
- Follow the app’s current YouTube publishing setup, entering YouTube’s server URL and stream key in the encoder. Softvelum’s documentation reference says to use video plus audio mode for connections.
- For a scheduled event, follow YouTube’s Live Control Room flow: connect and start the encoder at the scheduled time, check the preview, then select Go live.
Platform and audio details for Screencaster
The current iOS App Store listing describes Screencaster for iPhone and iPad and lists RTMP/RTMPS and other streaming protocols. It says Premium removes a five-minute streaming limit. On iOS, Softvelum documents that screen streaming can use the microphone; audio from another app is available only if that app supports ReplayKit. This is an iOS-specific constraint, not a blanket statement about Android. Store descriptions, plan terms, and features can change, so check the current listing for your device and region.
The Google Play Screencaster listing describes Android screen streaming and shows an update date of August 24, 2026. The Google Play Broadcaster listing describes live mobile capture, including camera switching, overlays, local MP4 recording, and YouTube Live as a destination. Its price and Premium limits are volatile and are not quoted here.

Troubleshooting the decision and setup
- You selected a Larix app but have a finished video file. The reviewed descriptions do not establish file playout in either app. Use a workflow that plays and encodes the file, rather than assuming a scheduled event will provide it.
- You scheduled an event, but YouTube has no preview. Scheduling is separate from sending the encoder feed. Check that a suitable encoder is connected with the YouTube server URL and stream key and has started transmitting.
- Your iOS screen stream has no app audio. Softvelum says the app whose audio you want must support ReplayKit; otherwise its documented option for screen-stream audio is the microphone.
- You need a continuous prerecorded stream without leaving a computer running. Consider a cloud playout service such as StreamNeo or the Gyre option named by YouTube Help, and verify the provider’s current terms and supported formats.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload a recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it plays what you upload at any quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, and it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are supported in India; cards are accepted worldwide. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
