For a scheduled YouTube event built from a prerecorded file, Streamlabs Talk Studio is the more directly documented fit: its scheduling flow lets you select “Pre-recorded video,” upload the file, and schedule the event. Larix Broadcaster is documented as a mobile live encoder for sending a camera feed to YouTube or another RTMP destination; the reviewed official materials do not establish a native prerecorded-file scheduling workflow for Larix.
That distinction is about documented workflows, not proof that no workaround exists. If your source is a live phone camera, Larix fits that job better. If you want a finished video scheduled as a YouTube event, use the Talk Studio flow below and check its current plan limits before depending on a particular duration.
Which app fits a prerecorded YouTube stream?
| Need | Streamlabs Talk Studio | Larix Broadcaster |
|---|---|---|
| Schedule a prerecorded file | Documented: select “Pre-recorded video,” upload a file, enter event details, and schedule. Streamlabs Support, updated April 25, 2025: Talk Studio Broadcast Scheduling. | No built-in prerecorded-file scheduling flow is established in the reviewed official materials. Larix is described as a mobile live encoder. Google Play: Larix Broadcaster. |
| Send live phone-camera video | Not the distinguishing use case in the cited prerecorded scheduling guide. | Core fit: capture and stream live from a mobile device using RTMP and other supported protocols. Google Play: Larix Broadcaster. |
| Create a scheduled YouTube event | The Talk Studio guide documents YouTube as a destination and says it creates an event link. | Create or schedule the event in YouTube Studio; the encoder sends video using YouTube’s server URL and stream key. |
| Known constraints for this workflow | The cited support page lists a 5 GB maximum file size; Standard allows up to 1 hour, while Pro and Ultra allow up to 2 hours. Custom RTMP destinations are unsupported for this scheduling feature. These are plan-specific limits stated by Streamlabs Support, updated April 25, 2025. | The reviewed materials do not establish equivalent prerecorded-file scheduling or file limits. |
Streamlabs’ instructions concern Talk Studio’s scheduled-video feature, not every product or plan carrying the Streamlabs name. For a finished file, it is the clearer documented path. For an actual live phone-camera contribution, Larix is the more natural fit.
Schedule a prerecorded video with Streamlabs Talk Studio
- Open Talk Studio scheduling and add a scheduled stream.
- Choose the destination or destinations. Select YouTube if the event is for YouTube; the documented flow says YouTube creates an event link that you can share.
- Choose “Pre-recorded video” and upload your file.
- Enter the event details: title, description, date and time, and thumbnail.
- Schedule the broadcast. Check the current account tier and requirements before relying on a particular file size or duration.
Streamlabs Support’s article, last updated April 25, 2025, lists a 5 GB maximum file size, a 1-hour maximum on Standard, and a 2-hour maximum on Pro or Ultra. It also says custom RTMP destinations are unsupported for this scheduling feature. Confirm current limits in Streamlabs’ scheduling support article before preparing a long or large upload.

Use Larix when the source is a live phone camera
Larix is documented as a mobile encoder, rather than as a scheduled-file player. For an encoder-based YouTube stream, YouTube’s documented workflow is to create or schedule the event in YouTube Studio, copy the server URL and stream key into the encoder, start the encoder, wait for the preview, and click “Go live” for a scheduled stream. Scheduling the event and beginning the broadcast are separate actions in this workflow.
- Enable live streaming if needed. YouTube says first activation can take up to 24 hours.
- Create or schedule the stream in YouTube Studio. For the exact current controls, follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
- Copy the server URL and stream key from YouTube’s live setup and enter them in Larix. Treat the stream key as a password; do not publish or share it.
- Start Larix’s live camera contribution and check that YouTube receives the video preview.
- For a scheduled event, click “Go live” in YouTube’s Live Control Room after the preview is ready. Starting the encoder alone is not the same as starting the scheduled YouTube broadcast.
This is an encoder workflow for a live source. It should not be mistaken for a native Larix workflow that uploads and schedules a finished video. YouTube’s encoder guide also describes typical streaming hardware such as an external microphone or headset, but those accessories are not required to schedule a prerecorded file.

Copyright and channel considerations
Choosing a prerecorded-video workflow does not exempt a broadcast from YouTube’s copyright rules or channel policies. Use video and audio you own or are authorized to stream, and review YouTube’s live-stream setup and policy guidance before scheduling. A scheduled event page and a successful file upload do not themselves establish that you have the necessary rights to the material.
