Is LEGO Party! like Mario Party?
Yes, in its basic structure. LEGO Party! is a multiplayer party game built around board play, minigames and competition for rewards. Players take turns moving through a board, while minigames and power-ups shape the contest along the way. The U.S. PlayStation Store describes play for one to four players, locally or online.
The resemblance is at the format level, not a shared franchise or online ecosystem: LEGO Party! is a LEGO game available on PlayStation, while Mario Party belongs to Nintendo. For a PlayStation group looking for that board-and-minigame rhythm, LEGO Party! is a relevant alternative rather than a direct Mario Party release.
What makes its board game different?
In Jay’s Brick Blog’s PS5 review, published September 30, 2025, players gather studs to buy Golden Bricks. Minigame placements award studs and can change the turn order for the next round. The reviewer regarded this as a more skill-forward departure from familiar party-game randomness; that is one reviewer’s assessment, not a measured comparison between the games.

The LEGO presentation is a major part of the experience. The official listing promotes customizable minifigures and Challenge Zones, and the review praises the brick-built look and game-show-style commentary. It also reports that players can ban particular minigames and that a setting can give some players a Golden Brick head start. Those options may help groups tailor a session, though the review evidence does not establish whether every setting is unchanged in the current build.
How much variety do the minigames and boards offer?
The LEGO Group and PlayStation Store advertise 60 minigames drawing on LEGO Pirates, LEGO Space and LEGO NINJAGO. Jay’s Brick Blog praises the range of ideas, but also finds some entries frustrating or less enjoyable. A large advertised minigame count does not mean every round will land equally well for every group.

The bigger caveat for repeat play is board and mode variety. Jay’s Brick Blog describes those options as relatively limited. That trade-off matters more if your group expects a party game to stay fresh through frequent, extended sessions than if you mainly want an accessible option for occasional get-togethers.
Can you play LEGO Party! on PS4 or PS5, locally and online?
The U.S. PlayStation Store lists LEGO Party! for PS4 and PS5, with a release date of September 30, 2025. It supports one to four players, and online play is optional. The official listing describes cross-platform online multiplayer, so a group does not have to be on PlayStation together to play online.

Who is LEGO Party! for?
It is a stronger fit for PlayStation households or friend groups that want a colorful, LEGO-themed board-and-minigame game, can play locally or assemble an online group, and are comfortable with a narrower board and mode selection. The reviewer’s favorable view of the skill-oriented turn order may also appeal if your group wants minigame performance to influence what happens next.
