Lenovo’s January 7, 2025 CES announcement was a portfolio reveal rather than a single PC launch. It combined new ThinkPad and ThinkCentre business systems, Legion and LOQ gaming machines, the Legion Go S handheld, software such as Lenovo AI Now and Legion Space, and several accessories. Some products were shipping models with announced U.S. prices, while the Legion Go 2 was only a prototype.
“AI-powered” covered several different technologies: Intel, AMD and Snapdragon processors with neural-processing units (NPUs), NVIDIA RTX graphics acceleration, Lenovo optimization software, Windows Copilot+ features, and AI-assisted audio, camera and security functions. The label does not mean every workload runs locally or that every model has the same capabilities.

The business PCs
ThinkPad X9 14 and X9 15 Aura Editions
The ThinkPad X9 models were Lenovo’s premium business-laptop headline products. They were presented as Copilot+ PCs with Intel Core Ultra processors, Wi-Fi 7, OLED display options, up to 32GB of LPDDR5x memory and up to 2TB of PCIe Gen 4 storage. Buyers could choose Windows 11 Home, Windows 11 Pro or Linux configurations, subject to the specific model.
The 14-inch model offered WUXGA OLED and 2.8K OLED touch configurations. The 15-inch version used a 15.3-inch 2.8K OLED option, a larger chassis and an available 80Wh battery. Both included Lenovo’s Aura Edition experiences for hybrid-work, privacy and productivity scenarios.
Lenovo announced U.S. starting prices of $1,399 for the ThinkPad X9 14 and $1,549 for the X9 15, with expected availability from February 2025. Those are announcement-era figures, not confirmed 2026 street prices. An NPU and Copilot+ branding also do not guarantee that every application gains local AI acceleration; support depends on the processor, Windows features, software and configuration.
ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable
The ThinkBook Plus Gen 6’s defining feature is a rollable display that expands vertically from 14 inches to 16.7 inches. The extra area is intended for split-screen work and virtual-display workflows. Intel Core Ultra processors provide the AI-PC hardware, but AI does not operate the mechanism or create a unique assistant on this model; the rollable screen is the main innovation.

ThinkCentre M90a Pro Gen 6
This 27-inch QHD all-in-one targets professional desks and meeting spaces. Announced options included an Intel Core Ultra processor, a discrete NPU, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050, Thunderbolt 4, support for multiple 4K monitors and a tilting, swiveling camera.
Its AI-related functions are practical rather than generative: noise suppression, Lenovo Focus Sound directional audio and Human Presence Detection 2.0. Focus Sound is designed to direct audio toward the user, while presence detection can lock the screen when the user walks away. Lenovo announced a U.S. starting price of $2,539 and expected Q2 2025 availability.
ThinkCentre neo 50q QC
The roughly one-liter neo 50q QC was aimed at small and medium-sized businesses. Lenovo called it the world’s first commercial desktop powered by Snapdragon X-series processors. Snapdragon X and X Plus options, Copilot+ capabilities, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs, dual-display support and a stated maximum of 45 TOPS of AI processing were part of the announcement.
Its announced U.S. starting price was $849, with availability expected from February 2025. ARM efficiency and NPU capability can be attractive in compact deployments, but IT teams should validate x86 application compatibility, specialist peripherals, virtualization and management tools before replacing conventional corporate desktops.
ThinkCentre neo Ultra Gen 2
The neo Ultra Gen 2 is a compact, more conventional desktop option built around Intel Core Ultra and Thunderbolt 4. Lenovo announced a U.S. starting price of $3,099 and expected Q2 2025 availability. It is therefore a different proposition from the lower-cost ARM-based neo 50q QC: buyers can prioritize familiar x86 software and expansion over the smallest possible footprint.

Legion laptops, desktops and handhelds
Legion Pro 7i, Pro 5i and Pro 5
The flagship Legion Pro range paired high-end processors and NVIDIA laptop GPUs with high-refresh displays and Lenovo’s Coldfront thermal systems. The Pro 7i could be configured with an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, an RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, an OLED panel up to 240Hz, G-SYNC and Dolby Vision on specified configurations, and Wi-Fi 7. Lenovo stated that its platform could support up to 250W total system TDP.
The Pro 5i reached Core Ultra 9 275HX and RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU configurations, while the AMD-based Pro 5 reached Ryzen 9 9955HX and RTX 5070 Laptop GPU configurations. Lenovo’s announced U.S. starting prices were $2,399 for the Pro 7i (expected March 2025), $1,499 for the Pro 5i (May 2025) and $1,399 for the Pro 5 (June 2025). The less extreme Legion 7i, Legion 5i and Legion 5 were listed at $1,599 (June), $1,299 (May) and $1,149 (May), respectively. High power, large chargers, fan noise and limited battery runtime remain the normal trade-offs for these performance classes.
Legion Go S for Windows
The Windows Legion Go S used an 8-inch WUXGA 16:10 touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate and variable-refresh-rate support. Configurations included AMD Ryzen Z2 Go or Ryzen Z1 Extreme processors, up to 32GB of LPDDR5x memory, up to a 1TB PCIe SSD, a 55.5Wh battery, Wi-Fi 6E, two USB 4 ports, Hall-effect joysticks, adjustable triggers and fused TrueStrike controllers.
Lenovo announced an initial U.S. starting price of $729.99 in January 2025, with additional configurations from $599.99 expected in May. Windows provides broad access to PC launchers, mods, desktop software and anti-cheat systems, but a handheld still has lower sustained performance and battery capacity than a gaming laptop.
Legion Go S powered by SteamOS
The SteamOS edition was announced as Lenovo’s first officially licensed handheld powered by SteamOS. Its console-like interface is designed around the Steam Store and Library, cloud saves and Remote Play. Lenovo announced a $499.99 U.S. starting price and expected May 2025 availability.
Recommended Free Tools
SteamOS is not merely a different launcher. It changes compatibility with Windows-only games, anti-cheat systems, non-Steam stores, mods and desktop applications. It suits a Steam-focused library; users dependent on those Windows workflows should choose the Windows model instead.
Legion Go 2 prototype
The Legion Go 2 shown at CES was explicitly a prototype. Lenovo described an 8.8-inch native-landscape OLED display with 144Hz refresh, 500 nits, VRR, up to 32GB of LPDDR5x memory, up to 2TB of storage, a 74Wh battery, an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme and redesigned controllers with a circular D-pad.
Lenovo said production details were still being refined. There was no confirmed retail price or release date, so the prototype should not be treated as a purchasable specification.
Legion towers and LOQ
Lenovo also updated its desktop gaming range and LOQ systems. The Legion Tower 7i was announced with up to a Core Ultra 9 285K and RTX 4080 Super at a $3,299.99 starting price, expected April 2025. The Legion Tower 5i reached Core Ultra 9 275HX and RTX 4060 Ti configurations, starting at $1,199.99 with expected May availability. LOQ remained the more budget-oriented gaming family; exact cooling, display and GPU power limits need to be checked per configuration.

What “AI-powered” means here
Different processors, different acceleration
Intel Core Ultra and Snapdragon X processors include NPUs for supported local workloads. NVIDIA RTX 50-series GPUs provide a separate path for AI acceleration, while selected Legion systems use Lenovo LA-series hardware and software controls. TOPS figures are architecture-specific and cannot by themselves predict application performance.
Lenovo AI Now
Lenovo described AI Now as an on-device personal assistant built on Meta’s Llama 3 model. Claimed uses include document summarization, knowledge-base retrieval, natural-language interaction, workflow assistance and task automation. Availability and offline behavior can vary by model, operating system, region and software version, so these are Lenovo-described capabilities rather than a guarantee for every configuration.
AI Engine+ and Legion Space
AI Engine+ is primarily an optimization layer: Lenovo says it can adjust CPU and GPU power, thermals and efficiency according to usage. It is not the same as a generative chatbot. The redesigned Legion Space brings device settings, performance profiles, synchronization, a unified game library, gameplay analytics, streaming and content-creation tools into one control center. Automatic tuning may reduce manual setup, but it does not guarantee higher frame rates in every game.

What buyers should check before choosing
- Application support: Verify ARM compatibility, drivers, peripherals, virtualization and management tools before adopting the Snapdragon neo 50q QC.
- Actual AI workloads: Confirm that the applications you use support the NPU, Copilot+ features, Lenovo AI Now or RTX acceleration. An NPU alone does not create a productivity benefit.
- Thermals and mobility: Flagship Legion performance brings heat, fan noise, large power adapters and potential battery compromises.
- OLED trade-offs: OLED improves contrast and response, but buyers who display static business interfaces for long periods should consider burn-in risk and warranty terms.
- Form-factor risk: The rollable ThinkBook’s premium is primarily for its display mechanism; assess serviceability and durability rather than assuming its AI features are unique.
- Operating system: Choose Legion Go S Windows for broad PC compatibility or SteamOS for a streamlined Steam-first experience.
- Product status: Separate retail products, refreshed families, software updates and concepts. The Legion Go 2 remains a prototype.
Why the announcement matters
Lenovo’s CES 2025 strategy was to distribute AI across the PC stack: local processing for supported applications, Copilot+ positioning, meeting and privacy features, automated system tuning, gaming controls and new form factors. The most practical choices are likely the conventional ThinkPad, ThinkCentre and Legion systems whose value can be judged by display, processor, GPU, serviceability and software compatibility. The rollable ThinkBook and Legion Go 2 prototype served more as technology showcases, while Lenovo’s AI claims require model-by-model application support rather than a blanket performance assumption.
