What is the Lenovo Legion Go S?
The Legion Go S is Lenovo’s handheld gaming PC with an 8-inch touchscreen and integrated controls. Lenovo announced a SteamOS edition in January 2025. SteamOS is its operating system; it does not make the device a Steam Deck, and a game’s availability or compatibility should be checked for the particular handheld.
Which processors and configurations are available?
Lenovo’s PSREF documentation identifies two SteamOS model families. That distinction matters because “Legion Go S” by itself does not specify the processor or the rest of the configuration.

What hardware did Lenovo announce?
In its 2025 announcement, Lenovo described the Legion Go S with these headline specifications. They are announcement figures, not a guarantee that every regional SKU has the same configuration.
- 8-inch WUXGA touchscreen with a 16:10 aspect ratio and 120 Hz refresh rate.
- AMD Ryzen Z2 Go or Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor options.
- Up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory.
- 55.5 Wh battery.
- Announced weight of 1.61 lb (730 g).
For the selected unit, check the local model’s full specifications; “up to” memory in an announcement does not mean every model includes the maximum.

What did the SteamOS edition cost at launch?
Lenovo said in January 2025 that the SteamOS version would be available starting in May 2025, with an expected starting price of $499.99. That was an announced launch price, not a current price or confirmation of present availability. Retail prices and stock depend on region, seller, and the exact configuration. Check a current local listing before deciding what the device costs.

- Processor and configuration: Identify whether the Legion Go S listing uses the Z1 Extreme or Z2 Go, then compare the complete memory and storage configuration with the alternative.
- Display: Compare screen size, resolution, refresh rate, and display type. Lenovo announced an 8-inch WUXGA, 16:10, 120 Hz touchscreen for the Go S.
- Controls and comfort: Consider grip, button layout, and weight for the way and length of time you play. Lenovo’s announced Go S weight is 1.61 lb; hands-on comfort is subjective.
- Battery: Compare capacity, but do not treat watt-hours as a runtime prediction. Battery life varies with the game, settings, and power use.
- Operating system and game compatibility: Check whether the games you care about work as expected on the exact device and operating system. This is especially important for multiplayer titles and games with platform-specific requirements.
- Local price and availability: Compare current prices for like-for-like configurations in your region, not the Go S’s historical announced launch price.

- Confirm whether it is the SteamOS 8APU1 with Ryzen Z1 Extreme or 8ARP1 with Ryzen Z2 Go in Lenovo’s PSREF.
- Verify the listed memory, storage, display, and operating system against the exact SKU.
- Check current compatibility for your must-play games, particularly multiplayer games.
- Compare the current local price and stock with other handhelds in comparable configurations.
