LG’s 2026 UltraGear evo announcement covers several different monitors, not one universal “4K OLED” display. The 32GX870B is the lineup’s conventional 4K UHD OLED, while the 39GX950B-B is a 5K2K OLED ultrawide, the 27GM950B-B uses Mini LED, the 52G930B-B is a huge 5K2K screen, and the 27GX790B targets esports refresh rates.
That distinction matters: resolution, aspect ratio, panel technology, desk space and the GPU needed to drive each mode vary substantially.
What LG announced
LG introduced the UltraGear evo branding ahead of CES 2026 as a premium gaming-monitor family spanning OLED, Mini LED, ultrawide and large-format designs. The initial flagship announcement centered on the 39GX950B, 27GM950B and 52G930B; LG later detailed the 32GX870B 4K OLED and 27GX790B high-refresh OLED. The actual 4K OLED: 32GX870B
The 32GX870B is the clearest match for the “4K OLED” description. Its 32-inch panel runs at 3840×2160 and uses LG’s fourth-generation Primary RGB Tandem OLED technology. It supports 240Hz at 4K or 480Hz at Full HD through Dual Mode, with a quoted 0.03ms GtG response time.

LG’s current lineup page lists the monitor as “Notify Me”, so no verified U.S. retail price or broad on-sale availability should be assumed. The 4K/240Hz mode also requires a powerful GPU, an appropriate cable and a game that can actually render at that frame rate.
The immersive OLED ultrawide: 39GX950B-B
The GX9 is a 39-inch curved OLED with 5120×2160 5K2K resolution, a 21:9 aspect ratio and a 1500R curve. LG announced a U.S. preorder price of $1,799.99 on April 7, 2026 on its official product page.

5K2K is not standard 4K UHD. UHD is 3840×2160; 5K2K is 5120×2160. The extra 1,280 horizontal pixels provide more workspace and detail than a 3440×1440 ultrawide, but also increase GPU load. Some games and video sources may show side bars or offer limited 21:9 support.

The bright Mini LED alternative: 27GM950B-B
The GM9 is a 27-inch 5K Mini LED monitor rather than an OLED. LG lists 9,216 LEDs and 2,304 local-dimming zones in its lineup overview, with 165Hz at 5120×2880 or 330Hz at QHD. The monitor is rated for 1ms GtG, DisplayHDR 1000 and up to 99% DCI-P3.
LG says its design reduces blooming compared with earlier Mini LED monitors; that is a manufacturer claim, not an independent measurement. Mini LED can still produce halos around bright objects on dark backgrounds and does not provide OLED’s per-pixel black level. Its announced U.S. price was $1,199.99 on April 7, 2026. The giant 5K2K option: 52G930B-B
The G9 uses a 52-inch curved 21:9 panel at 5120×2160, with a 1000R curve and 240Hz refresh rate. It is rated at 1ms GtG, DisplayHDR 600 and up to 95% DCI-P3, with DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1 and USB-C 90W PD.

LG announced a U.S. price of $1,999.99 on February 24, 2026 and described it as the world’s largest 5K2K gaming monitor based on its stated comparison and published specifications. That claim is attributed to LG, not an independent industry ranking. The monitor needs considerable desk depth and viewing distance; check the 52G930B-B product page before planning a setup.

The esports-focused OLED: 27GX790B
The 27GX790B trades resolution for speed. Its 2560×1440 OLED panel reaches 540Hz at QHD or 720Hz at HD, uses fourth-generation Tandem OLED and quotes a 0.02ms response time. It is NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible and aimed at competitive players with exceptionally high frame rates. It is not a 4K monitor, and its high-refresh modes matter most in esports titles where a fast GPU can sustain very high frame rates. LG lists it in the UltraGear evo overview; a verified U.S. price was not established.
What the headline specifications mean in practice
Refresh rate is not guaranteed frame rate
A 240Hz, 330Hz or 540Hz panel can accept those signals, but the game’s actual frame rate depends on the GPU, CPU, settings and title. 4K/240Hz and 5K2K at 165–240Hz are substantially more demanding than 1440p.
Check the complete DisplayPort 2.1 chain
For the highest resolution and refresh combinations, verify that the graphics card, cable and monitor all support the required DisplayPort 2.1 mode. HDMI 2.1 is useful for modern consoles and high-bandwidth PCs, but the full PC feature set may depend on DisplayPort.

Understand Dual Mode
Dual Mode switches the panel to a lower resolution to pursue a higher refresh rate. It can help competitive play, but it does not turn the display into a native lower-resolution panel with identical scaling characteristics.

USB-C power delivery has limits
90W USB-C charging can be convenient for a compatible laptop. It is not automatically a complete docking station: confirm the monitor’s USB, KVM, video-input and networking features separately.
AI upscaling is image processing
LG says its AI upscaling requires at least a Wide Full HD input and that results vary with source quality. It can process an image, but it does not increase a GPU’s native rendering performance or guarantee native-quality detail.

Which UltraGear evo should you buy?
Choose the 32GX870B
Choose it if standard 4K UHD, OLED contrast, 16:9 compatibility and a 4K/240Hz target matter most. Its price and availability remain unconfirmed on LG’s current page.
Choose the 39GX950B-B
Choose it for premium 5K2K ultrawide gaming and productivity, provided your desk and GPU can handle a 39-inch 1500R display and the $1,799.99 announced price.

Choose the 27GM950B-B
Choose it for 5K desktop detail, strong HDR brightness and Mini LED rather than OLED. The trade-offs are possible blooming and the $1,199.99 announced price.
Choose the 52G930B-B
Choose it for a very large single-screen setup, sim-style gaming and 5K2K/240Hz. Confirm desk depth, viewing distance and game support before spending $1,999.99.
Choose the 27GX790B
Choose it for competitive shooters and esports where 540Hz QHD or 720Hz HD can be exploited. It is the wrong choice if 4K detail, HDR immersion or ultrawide space is the priority.

The Bottom Line
LG’s “stunning 4K OLED” story applies most precisely to the 32GX870B. The broader UltraGear evo family is a choice of formats: 4K OLED, 5K2K OLED ultrawide, 5K Mini LED, a 52-inch 5K2K display and a QHD esports OLED. Match the monitor to your resolution target, room and GPU rather than choosing by the largest refresh-rate number.
