If Liar’s Bar closes, freezes, or will not launch through Steam, work through these eight fixes in order. Start with the reversible steps, test the game after each one, and match the fix to the symptom. Liar’s Bar is listed as a Windows-only Steam title; the current listing specifies Windows 10 64-bit, DirectX 11, broadband internet, and 15 GB of storage.
A crash before the menu usually points to a stuck process, damaged files, drivers, or local settings. A crash after changing graphics options makes a configuration reset especially relevant. If the application stays open but you are returned to a lobby or see a network error, that is a disconnect rather than a PC crash.
Check the symptom before changing anything
- Closes immediately after Play: restart Steam and Windows, then verify files and check drivers.
- Crashes while loading: suspect damaged assets, graphics drivers, settings, or hardware limits.
- Crashes when entering a match: lower graphics settings and disable overlays before reinstalling.
- Crashes after changing resolution or quality: use
-autoconfigor reset the local configuration. - Freezes but remains open: test overlays, recording tools, fullscreen mode, and GPU stability.
- A Steam dialog appears: use Steam Support. If Liar’s Bar itself displays the error after launch, Steam directs you to the game’s developer or publisher.
Confirm the PC meets the listed requirements
These are the requirements currently shown on Liar’s Bar’s Steam listing (retrieved August 16, 2026). Minimum specifications are not a guarantee of stable play.

Compare the exact GPU model and VRAM, not a laptop’s marketing name. In Windows, use winver for the OS version, System Information for “System Type,” dxdiag for DirectX and display drivers, and Task Manager’s Performance tab for memory, disk, and GPU use. Keep more than 15 GB free so updates and temporary files have room, and be cautious with a nearly full, failing, or external drive. The listing explicitly names Windows 10 64-bit; do not assume formal Windows 11 support without developer documentation.

Fix 1: Restart Steam, Windows, and any stuck process
- Exit Liar’s Bar.
- Click Steam in the top-left and choose Exit.
- Restart the computer.
- If it still will not start, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc, open Task Manager, find Liar’s Bar or its executable, right-click it, and choose End task.
- Open Steam and try again.
This clears a hung process and reloads the Steam client. If another Windows account is running the game, sign out of that account or restart before testing again.
Fix 2: Verify Liar’s Bar’s installed files
- Open Steam → Library.
- Right-click Liar’s Bar and select Properties.
- Open Installed Files and select Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for the check to finish, allow Steam to download replacements, restart Steam, and launch the game.
Verification is a good response to interrupted updates, missing files, or a crash that began after a failed download. It cannot repair an unstable GPU, unsupported hardware, third-party conflict, or a bug in the current build. Steam may report files that fail validation because local configuration files are not necessarily replaced; that result is not automatically an error. Do not run several verification jobs alongside heavy disk activity.
Fix 3: Update Windows and the graphics driver
- Open Settings → Windows Update, install pending updates, and restart.
- Install the current driver for your GPU from NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel.
- Restart again and test Liar’s Bar before reinstalling other components.
If crashes began immediately after a driver update, use the installer’s clean-install option where available. A rollback to the previous stable driver can be reasonable in that specific case, but no particular driver version is established as a universal Liar’s Bar fix.
Fix 4: Reset the local configuration
A single Reddit report says deleting Liar’s Bar’s registry configuration resolved graphical problems. This is a community workaround, not an official or guaranteed fix, so create a backup first.

- Close Liar’s Bar and Steam.
- Press Windows key + R, type
regedit, and press Enter. - Navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareCurve AnimationLiar's Bar. - Right-click the Liar’s Bar key, choose Export, and save the backup.
- Right-click that same key and choose Delete.
- Restart Steam and launch the game.
The game may recreate default settings, so expect to reconfigure graphics, display, audio, and controls. Skip this step if the key is absent. Do not delete adjacent Curve Animation keys or use registry-cleaning software.
Fix 5: Disable overlays, capture tools, and unstable tuning
Steam recommends disabling non-essential software when a game will not launch or runs incorrectly. Temporarily disable:
- Steam, Discord, NVIDIA, AMD, and Xbox Game Bar overlays.
- MSI Afterburner, RivaTuner Statistics Server, OBS, and other capture tools.
- RGB, motherboard-monitoring, and hardware-control utilities.
- Third-party antivirus game-protection or injection features.
For Steam’s overlay, use Library → right-click Liar’s Bar → Properties → General, then turn off the in-game overlay option. Return CPU and GPU overclocks or undervolts to default. Test with only Steam and Liar’s Bar running, then re-enable services individually. Disabling these features temporarily removes chat, screenshots, recording, or performance displays, but identifies conflicts without changing the installation.
Fix 6: Lower graphics settings and use a safer display mode
If the game reaches its menu, lower resolution, textures, shadows, effects, and post-processing. Try borderless or windowed mode instead of exclusive fullscreen, cap the frame rate, and test VSync in both states. Restart the game after each meaningful change and reproduce the same activity that caused the crash.

If it crashes before the menu, try one Steam launch option at a time:
- Right-click Liar’s Bar in Library and select Properties.
- In General, enter
-autoconfigunder Launch Options. - Close the window and launch the game; remove the option if it has no effect or creates a new problem.
Steam documents -autoconfig for automatically choosing settings. A parameter such as -dx11 is only an experimental, conditional workaround: the Liar’s Bar sources do not document that command, and the game’s engine was not independently confirmed. Do not stack undocumented parameters.
Fix 7: Separate a multiplayer disconnect from a crash
If the desktop application remains open and you return to a menu or see a network message, investigate connectivity rather than graphics. Check whether single-player or menu activity is stable, whether other players see the same problem, and whether firewall or security software is intervening. The available information does not establish a current Liar’s Bar server outage or specific networking defect.
Fix 8: Reinstall, then escalate with useful evidence
Reinstall only after verification and the targeted tests above.

- Record the crash location, exact wording, hardware, Windows version, GPU driver, launch options, and overlays or tuning in use.
- Uninstall Liar’s Bar through Steam and restart Steam.
- Install it again on a healthy drive with adequate free space.
- Launch once with overlays disabled and hardware at default settings.
- Test before restoring custom settings.
A Steam uninstall may not remove every user configuration or registry entry, so a local-settings problem can survive reinstallation. For escalation, include the exact error, when it occurs, whether verification changed anything, CPU, RAM, GPU and driver, Windows version, recent crash logs or minidumps, and every troubleshooting step already attempted. Steam identifies system specifications, DirectX information, driver versions, Windows Event Log entries, and crash data as useful diagnostics. For an in-game crash, contact the developer or publisher; reserve Steam Support for Steam-client, authentication, or Steam-dialog problems.

If the same crash remains reproducible after a clean launch with verified files, current drivers, default hardware settings, disabled overlays, and a reset configuration, stop repeating generic fixes. At that point, a game-side defect or an interaction specific to your hardware is more plausible than a missing file. Send the evidence package to the developer and identify the exact mode, map, menu action, or graphics setting that triggers it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Liar’s Bar run on Windows 11?
The Steam listing explicitly specifies Windows 10 64-bit. It does not, in the cited material, formally document Windows 11 support, so treat Windows 11 compatibility as unconfirmed rather than guaranteed.
Does verifying Steam files delete saves?
Verification checks installed content and may replace damaged files; it does not normally remove personal saves or settings. Local configuration files are not necessarily replaced.

Should I use -dx11?
Only as a cautious experiment if other graphics fixes fail. The Liar’s Bar sources do not document this launch option, so remove it if it has no effect or causes another problem.
Why does it crash only in multiplayer?
First determine whether the program closes or merely disconnects. A disconnect points toward network, firewall, or server conditions; a desktop crash calls for the graphics, overlay, file, and configuration steps above.
Should I roll back my GPU driver?
Consider a rollback only when the problem began immediately after a driver update. Otherwise install the current driver and test with default GPU settings.
