Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is an action-adventure starring Goro Majima as an amnesiac castaway turned pirate captain. It launched on February 21, 2025, for PlayStation, Xbox and PC. Its defining twist is the Goromaru: players take to the sea for pirate battles alongside land combat and minigames.
What is Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii?
SEGA revealed Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii on September 20, 2024. The game puts Goro Majima at the center of a new adventure set after Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. After losing his memory, Majima washes ashore and is rescued by Noah, a young islander. He sets out to recover his past while pursuing treasure among rival pirates. SEGA’s announcement initially gave the release date as February 28, 2025; a later release notice confirmed the game was out on February 21, 2025.
How do the pirate mechanics work?
The Goromaru is Majima’s ship and the hub for the game’s pirate action. Players can fight ship-to-ship battles, then switch to ground combat and other activities. SEGA describes the game as an action-adventure with new combat mechanics and minigames, rather than a conventional turn-based entry in the series.
In a PlayStation.Blog interview, RGG Studio Director and Like a Dragon Series Executive Producer Masayoshi Yokoyama said Pirate Battles were built specifically for this game: “Yes. The Like a Dragon team excels at reworking existing assets to build new systems, but we did create the Pirate Battle system from scratch.” The interview also discusses Majima’s Mad Dog and Pirate combat styles.

What platforms is the game on?
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii launched February 21, 2025, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows and Steam, according to SEGA’s release notice. The PlayStation Store lists both PS4 and PS5 versions and a free PS5 demo. Store prices and promotions can change, so check the current PlayStation listing for the offer and edition available in your region.
Which editions are available, and which are physical?
Edition choice depends on platform, format and included extras. SEGA lists a digital Deluxe Edition and separately available DLC; those add-ons should not be assumed to come with the standard edition. Its official store also lists a physical standard edition and a Complete Box. The Complete Box includes the base game, a Goro Majima Pop-Up Pirate Jr., an eyepatch, an A4 acrylic art board, a deluxe box and a Deluxe Upgrade code. Check the store listing for regional availability and platform-specific details.

SEGA’s February 21, 2025 release notice states that the Like a Dragon series had sold 27.7 million standalone games worldwide as of 2025. That is a series-wide total, not sales of Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii; the notice does not give a title-specific sales figure.
