LiveReacting Stream Keeps Stopping on YouTube: How to Fix It

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

First find out whether LiveReacting is streaming directly from its hosted servers or sending the broadcast through Plugin Mode and a local encoder such as OBS. If Plugin Mode is active, check the encoder, YouTube’s stream-health messages, and the computer’s outbound connection. If LiveReacting is hosting the stream directly, its documentation says the broadcast can continue after you close the browser or shut down your computer, so a stopped stream is not automatically a home Wi-Fi problem.

Identify what is actually stopping

Before changing settings, distinguish a stopped broadcast from a playback problem. Check whether the broadcast has disappeared from YouTube, the encoder has disconnected, the picture is black or frozen, or only some viewers report buffering. YouTube notes that the scope of viewer reports helps narrow the cause:

  • If only one viewer has trouble, check that viewer’s device and network.
  • If several affected viewers share one network, investigate that network.
  • If viewers on separate networks report problems, the encoder or stream itself becomes a more relevant place to investigate.

Use YouTube’s stream troubleshooting guidance alongside the symptoms you see; a viewer’s playback issue does not by itself prove the broadcast ended.

Confirm your LiveReacting streaming path

LiveReacting has two materially different ways to send a stream to YouTube. The next steps depend on which one you selected in Studio.

  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Direct streaming from LiveReacting

In direct mode, LiveReacting hosts the broadcast on its servers. Its documentation says you can close the browser or shut down your computer after launch and the stream can keep running. If the broadcast ends unexpectedly in this mode, investigate the LiveReacting service or YouTube destination rather than assuming your home computer or Wi-Fi caused it. If Studio reports that the broadcast ended unexpectedly, contact LiveReacting support; the available troubleshooting material does not describe one universal fix for this failure.

Plugin Mode with a local encoder

LiveReacting’s YouTube settings offer Plugin Mode for software such as OBS, Wirecast, StreamYard, and Ecamm. With this path, your local software, computer, and network are part of the live signal chain. Diagnose the encoder and outbound connection before changing unrelated LiveReacting settings. See LiveReacting’s help documentation for its Studio settings and mode guidance.

Fix a stream that uses Plugin Mode

  1. Check the encoder’s connection and output. Confirm that your encoder is still connected and sending video and audio. Update the encoder if needed, inspect its error messages and CPU load, and make a local recording to check for picture or sound problems. These are YouTube’s recommended first checks for encoder-based streaming.
  2. Test the outbound connection. If the encoder preview and local recording look and sound healthy, test the computer’s connection to the internet, especially its upload stability. YouTube recommends choosing a quality that is reliable for the available connection. A wired connection may be worth testing when investigating an unstable local connection, but YouTube’s guidance is to test the connection; it does not identify an Ethernet cable as a guaranteed fix.
  3. Choose a reliable stream quality. Test before going live using audio and motion similar to the planned broadcast. If the connection struggles, use a quality it can sustain rather than pushing a higher setting that repeatedly disconnects. Monitor YouTube’s stream-health messages during the event.
  4. Check keyframe frequency in the encoder. YouTube recommends a 2-second keyframe frequency and says not to exceed 4 seconds. This is general guidance for streams sent through an encoder, not a LiveReacting-only setting. Confirm where your encoder exposes the setting and use the encoder’s own controls.
  5. Use YouTube’s stream-health messages to narrow the fault. Compare the reported condition with what the encoder is showing. Encoder errors, excessive CPU load, or an unhealthy local recording point toward the local setup; healthy local output paired with weak outbound connectivity points toward the connection.

YouTube’s guidance is direct: “Make sure you choose a quality that will result in a reliable stream based on your internet connection.” YouTube Help also recommends testing in advance and monitoring stream health.

Check LiveReacting settings without guessing

LiveReacting Studio settings allow a custom video bitrate or Auto; LiveReacting describes Auto as optimal based on project settings. Its settings guidance recommends 128k audio unless you know the destination supports a higher input, noting that higher audio quality could cause playback problems. These options are worth checking when you are configuring the project, but the documentation does not establish them as a universal remedy for an unexpected stop.

If the broadcast is in direct mode and the problem is with a microphone or webcam layer, LiveReacting’s audio/video troubleshooting page advises checking those layers and syncing them by removing and re-adding them. That guidance addresses layer problems, not every YouTube disconnection.

Check duration only when the ending is repeatable

If the stream ends at the same time on each attempt, review the scheduled or configured duration. LiveReacting’s help says YouTube has no duration limit, but streams longer than 12 hours will not be archived. The archive note is about saved playback, not a documented automatic cutoff for a live stream. See LiveReacting’s duration guidance.

Why does my YouTube live stream keep disconnecting?

The likely troubleshooting path depends on the mode and who is affected. In Plugin Mode, investigate the encoder’s output, errors and CPU, then the outbound connection if the local output is healthy. In direct mode, LiveReacting says the stream runs from its servers, so a powered-off computer is not itself an explanation for a broadcast ending. If only one viewer reports trouble, check that viewer’s device and network before changing the broadcast setup.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is a 24/7 YouTube channel playing uploaded videos, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it plays your uploaded videos, not a live camera feed. Any quality up to 4K 60fps streams as uploaded at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month.
