“G HUB not opening” can mean a dead shortcut, a hidden process, an endless Logitech logo, an immediate crash, or an installer that will not start. Begin with the least-destructive steps: restart Windows, end only Logitech G HUB/LGHUB processes, and try the installed executable. Back up settings.db before deleting G HUB data, then reinstall from Logitech if necessary.
Identify the symptom first

Try the safe fixes first
1. Restart Windows
A restart can clear a hung updater or background process. Microsoft lists restarting the PC as a first step for desktop applications that cannot be installed, removed, or updated (Microsoft Support).
2. Exit and terminate G HUB
- Check the notification area for a Logitech G HUB icon. Right-click it and choose Exit, if available.
- Press
Ctrl+Shift+Escto open Task Manager. - End only processes whose names clearly identify Logitech G HUB or LGHUB. Do not terminate arbitrary Windows processes.
- Try launching G HUB again.
Logitech specifically recommends ensuring that no G HUB processes remain before uninstalling and reinstalling (Logitech’s logo-loop procedure).
3. Try the installed executable
A broken shortcut can make a working installation appear dead. In File Explorer, try the typical path C:Program FilesLGHUBlghub.exe. The location can differ. If lghub.exe is missing, the installation is probably incomplete and reinstalling is more appropriate.

Check Windows compatibility
At the time of checking, Logitech’s support page listed G HUB 2026.1.828335, dated February 3, 2026, for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Check the official G HUB page for a newer release before installing. Logitech separately says Windows 10 version 1803 (build 17134) or older requires G HUB 2023.1. Do not install an older build from an unofficial mirror, and do not downgrade a Windows 11 system merely because launch troubleshooting is difficult.
Back up profiles before deleting G HUB data
Before an uninstall or cleanup, preserve the local settings database:
- Press
Windows+R. - Enter
%LOCALAPPDATA%LGHUBand press Enter. - Copy
settings.dbto the desktop or another safe location.
Logitech identifies C:Users<username>AppDataLocalLGHUBsettings.db as the settings file to back up (Logitech support). A damaged database can itself cause a loading loop. Let a fresh installation launch successfully before restoring the old file; keep a copy of the newly created data first, because restoring corrupted data can bring the failure back.

Perform a normal uninstall and reinstall
- In Windows 11, open Settings > Apps > Installed apps. Find Logitech G HUB, open its three-dot menu, and choose Uninstall.
- In Windows 10, use Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
- Restart Windows.
- Download G HUB only from Logitech’s official support page, run the installer, and restart again if requested.
Menu labels vary by Windows build. If G HUB is absent from the installed-apps list but its folders remain, skip to the full cleanup section.

If the G HUB installer will not open
This is different from an installed app that will not launch. Logitech’s documented procedure is:
- Delete the downloaded G HUB installation package.
- Uninstall any existing G HUB installation.
- Confirm that
C:Program FilesLGHUBhas been removed. - Install or repair the current Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable from Microsoft or Logitech’s official link.
- Restart Windows if prompted.
- Open a freshly downloaded installer and choose Repair if that option appears; otherwise reinstall.
See Logitech’s installer-not-opening instructions. Do not copy individual DLL files from third-party websites. Windows does not expose a Repair option for every desktop application; its availability depends on the package (Microsoft’s repair guidance).
Use a full clean reinstall only when needed
Use this escalation when a normal reinstall leaves the logo looping or the app still closes. Deleting these locations can remove locally stored profiles, macros, lighting configurations, and other settings, so make the settings.db backup first.

- End remaining G HUB/LGHUB processes in Task Manager.
- Delete these folders if they exist:
C:Program FilesLGHUBC:ProgramDataLGHUBC:Users<username>AppDataLocalLGHUBC:Users<username>AppDataRoamingLGHUB
- Restart Windows.
- Download and install G HUB from Logitech.
For hidden locations, enter %LOCALAPPDATA%LGHUB or %APPDATA%LGHUB in the Run dialog. For ProgramData, enable File Explorer’s Hidden items or type the path directly. If Windows says a folder is in use, return to Task Manager rather than forcing deletion. Logitech’s complete logo-loop procedure is documented here. Do not delete registry keys or unrelated Logitech folders used by Options+, Logi Tune, or other products.

If a fresh installation still fails
Check security software
Open Windows Security’s Protection history and review your antivirus or endpoint-protection quarantine and blocked-app logs. Allow G HUB only after confirming the installer came from Logitech. Do not leave antivirus protection permanently disabled.
Test a clean boot
A clean boot can reveal interference from overlays, hardware-monitoring tools, RGB utilities, macro software, or security products. Treat it as a diagnostic test: after testing, restore normal startup and re-enable services methodically rather than leaving Microsoft services disabled.
Check whether Windows itself is damaged
If several unrelated desktop applications are failing, run these optional general Windows repairs from Command Prompt as administrator:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
sfc /scannowWait for each command to finish, then restart. Microsoft Q&A presents these as general system-repair steps, not as a guaranteed G HUB fix (Microsoft Q&A example).

Compare Windows accounts
If G HUB works in another Windows account, the original user profile may be damaged. Failure in every account points more toward installation files, system components, or a security policy. Do not make permanent “Run this program as administrator” compatibility settings a first-line fix.
If G HUB opens but cannot see your device
This is a device-connection problem, not a launch problem. Try:
- Connect a wired device directly to the PC instead of through an unpowered hub.
- Use another USB port and check the cable.
- Reconnect or re-pair a wireless receiver.
- Check battery and device power.
- Test the device in Windows or on another computer.
- Confirm that the model is supported by the installed G HUB release.
Microsoft also recommends checking power, cables, ports, and bypassing an intermediary hub for mouse and keyboard problems (Microsoft Support).

Onboard Memory
Compatible Logitech G devices can store some profiles and settings in onboard memory, allowing basic operation without G HUB running continuously. Availability is device-specific, and some macros and software-dependent features do not work in this mode. It is not a complete substitute for game detection, LIGHTSYNC, Blue VO!CE, firmware management, or every device control. Logitech documents the limitations in its G HUB FAQ.

Other RGB software
OpenRGB is free, open-source, and cross-platform, and may handle some lighting tasks. It does not replace Logitech-specific macros, DPI and device tuning, firmware updates, game profiles, Blue VO!CE, or complete support for every Logitech peripheral.
When to contact Logitech
Escalate after a clean reinstall and Windows-level checks fail, or when firmware or a business security policy is involved. Logitech’s consumer support portal is logitech.com/support. Have these details ready:
- Windows edition and build
- G HUB version, if visible
- Device model
- Exact symptom and when it began
- Whether the installer opens
- Whether a clean reinstall changed anything
- Relevant Windows Security, Event Viewer, or installer error
- Any support ID Logitech provides
Frequently Asked Questions
Will reinstalling G HUB delete my profiles?
A normal reinstall may leave local data intact, but a full cleanup deletes LGHUB folders and can remove locally stored profiles and macros. Copy settings.db before deleting anything.
Should I always run G HUB as administrator?
No. Permanent elevation is not a universal fix and can create permission or startup inconsistencies. Use it only as a limited diagnostic test if support specifically directs you.
Can I install an older G HUB version?
Use an older branch only when Logitech identifies your Windows build as unsupported—for example, Windows 10 version 1803/build 17134 or older requires G HUB 2023.1. Avoid unofficial download mirrors.
Can I use Logitech hardware without G HUB?
Basic input usually works through Windows, and compatible devices may retain onboard settings. Advanced profiles, macros, lighting, firmware, and device-specific features may require G HUB.
Should I delete Logitech registry entries?
No. Registry deletion is not part of Logitech’s documented recovery path and adds risk without an established benefit.
