Yes: Logitech announced the G PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2 on September 5, 2023, with LIGHTFORCE hybrid optical-mechanical switches and an advertised 95-hour battery rating. Its U.S. launch suggested retail price was $159. The 95 hours is a “constant motion” estimate, not a promise for every polling rate or power setting; Logitech’s current advertised sensor specifications are also higher than the launch figures.
What Logitech launched in September 2023
The product was the Logitech G PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Mouse, a roughly 60-gram evolution of the original Superlight that kept its general shape and geometry. Logitech announced it on September 5, 2023, and said it was immediately available through LogitechG.com in the United States, Canada, and select worldwide markets. Launch colors were pink, black, and white. The U.S. suggested retail price was $159. Logitech’s launch announcement also highlighted USB-C charging, POWERPLAY compatibility, zero-additive PTFE feet, and the HERO 2 sensor.
The original Superlight 2 is distinct from later family members such as the smaller 2c and the asymmetrical, right-handed 2 DEX. Logitech introduced the DEX in a separate 2024 announcement; its design and specifications should not be treated as those of the standard symmetrical Superlight 2. Logitech’s 2024 PRO-series announcement describes that separate launch.
What “hybrid switches” means
LIGHTFORCE combines optical sensing for actuation with a mechanical component intended to preserve a conventional mechanical-style click feel. It is not a system of interchangeable optical and mechanical switches. Logitech identifies the main buttons as LIGHTFORCE Hybrid Switches; that specification does not establish that the side buttons or scroll-wheel click use the same design. Logitech’s specification page lists the main-button switch type.

What the design may change in use
Optical sensing avoids the electrical-contact signal path used in conventional mechanical actuation, while the mechanical portion is intended to retain a familiar click sensation. That is a meaningful design difference, but not proof that the switches cannot fail or that every player will prefer their feel. Click sound and feel depend on the complete button mechanism, and personal preferences vary. Logitech’s cited specification does not provide a service-life rating for this exact implementation, so durability should not be expressed as a guaranteed number.
What the 95-hour battery rating does—and does not—say
Logitech labels the rating “constant motion: 95 h.” It is an advertised estimate, not a universal runtime guarantee. Polling rate and power-saving configuration matter: a result at 1,000Hz cannot be carried over to 8,000Hz. Firmware, wireless use, and computing conditions can also affect runtime.

Tom’s Hardware’s review reports the configuration-dependent test results. They illustrate why 95 hours should not be used to predict runtime at higher report rates. The available figures do not establish an 8,000Hz runtime.

Check the report rate and power-saving setting in G HUB first, then check firmware and whether the reported charge level behaves consistently after a full charge. A shorter runtime at a higher polling rate is not, by itself, evidence of a defective battery. If shorter battery life comes with wireless dropouts, receiver placement and interference are also worth checking.

The generational changes are summarized in Logitech’s launch announcement and in RTINGS’ comparison. The Superlight 2 has five programmable buttons, including two on the left side, and no dedicated DPI button on top, according to Tom’s Hardware. It is an update to the established shell, not a radically different shape.
Launch specifications versus current advertised specifications
Some sensor numbers have changed between Logitech’s launch material and its current product information. The launch announcement gave the HERO 2 a maximum of 32,000 DPI and tracking above 500 IPS. Logitech’s current product page advertises 100–44,000 DPI, more than 888 IPS, more than 88G acceleration, and a maximum 8,000Hz report rate. These are figures from different publication points, not one unchanged launch specification sheet.

These are Logitech’s current advertised specifications, not independent measurements. Logitech lists Windows 10 or later and a USB 2.0 port among compatibility requirements, and says advanced configuration requires Logitech G HUB. “Up to 8,000Hz” describes the maximum report-rate capability; it does not mean every game or computer will benefit equally. Higher report rates increase power use, and their practical value depends on factors such as the game, display refresh rate, CPU load, and the player’s sensitivity to input differences. If longer battery life matters more than the highest available rate, a lower setting may be the more useful choice.

Who should consider buying it now?
- Competitive FPS players who want the established symmetrical Superlight shape, low weight, wireless operation, USB-C, and a high polling-rate ceiling.
- Existing Superlight users who specifically want LIGHTFORCE main clicks, HERO 2, or USB-C. The improvements are real, but whether they justify replacing a working original depends on the buyer’s priorities and the price difference.
- POWERPLAY users who want compatibility with Logitech’s charging ecosystem.
It is a less natural match for MMO or macro-heavy play, where five buttons may be limiting; for buyers who require Bluetooth; or for those who prefer a smaller or ergonomic right-handed shell. Buyers who dislike configuring devices through G HUB should also consider the software requirement for advanced features. Current price and stock vary, so compare the live checkout price with the original Superlight and alternatives rather than relying on the 2023 launch price.
